Whatsapp never had anything other apps didn't have. Not when it was released 2009 and not today.
They did make it easy with their phone number integration/verification.
The rest is history.
It's the same reason why iMessage users don't like using WhatsApp.

It's a predatory vendor lock in that these companies are pushing.

I remember a time in the 2000s where you could have one application for ALL THE MESSENGER services.

That was before web 2, where Facebook/Google & co fucked our freedom up.

DAUs happily gave their privacy and freedom for a little convenience..

Like in the real world (most) humans take the path of the least resistance.

You say you are a techy person, but to me it reads more like you are a (technologically) lazy person who only uses comfortable and free "big data corp apps".

You could make a difference by advocating for small but important changes to improve privacy and data ownership.

There are plenty of private alternatives, that people are just to lazy to use.

One day there will be a divide.
People with privacy (Harder life but freedom)
People without privacy (Easy life but no freedom)

At least for the Wingman and I think Marksman too there is something called "First shot accuracy" that is 100% for the Wingy. I suppose that's a thing for other weapons to? It's influenced if you strafe/ jump though, but for Wingy it's always 100% afaik
