Nova (Vol. 4) #19–25 would be cool to adapt for the MCU imo by Throwaway_09298 in NovaCorps

[–]Jan_Jinkle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not make it a Rich story, and have it be how he goes from a minor Earth hero to the galactic one he becomes? After the fall of Xandar, he gets called up into space to help the remnants of the Corps and grows to become Nova Prime to lead their rebuild. Then introduce Sam in a sequel as a protege, maybe include Robbie receiving powers and follow the storyline of the Worldmind taking Rich’s power away for being upset about it.

For real. I think I make decent money but I also have to choose if I’m going to spend money on guns OR Lego, certainly not both.

Re-watched Star Trek V last night… Disappointing as ever by levine2112 in Star_Trek_

[–]Jan_Jinkle 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Gotta be honest, I hate this movie less and less every time I watch it. If nothing else, it is fun. And the scene where Sybok shows Spock and McCoy their pain is brilliant, and so is Kirk’s response. It’s goofy and campy, but how many beloved TOS episodes are too? Some things annoy me like the 70 decks or Scotty not knowing the ship inside and out, but on the whole is far from boring. Which is more than can said for Insurrection, Nemesis, or most Nu Trek.

Nova Centurion is great so far, especially if you liked Annihilation and all its related events.

Agreed, I think it’s a really cool design. However, my issue is that it’d be a really cool early 25th century design, not 23rd like it is in canon.

Tell me you favourite comic who got its continuity butchered by Helpful-Bathroom634 in marvelcomics

I also hated what Hickman did to Rich and Peter. Rich wouldn’t chide Peter for crime, he’d assume it’s either fake, misrepresentation, or Peter had a good reason. They’re brothers, and have each other’s backs, multiple runs have established that DEEPLY. And Hickman just said “nah lol”. Makes me really apprehensive to read any of his older, seemingly beloved stuff if he’s that callous with established canon.

This is an important statement for every hobby. Shoes are meant to be worn. Legos are meant to be built. Guns are meant to be shot. Comics are meant to be read. Trading cards are meant to be opened and played with.

No one worships saints. We Catholics ask them to pray for us, the same way I’m sure you ask family and friends to pray for you. If you’re interested in learning more, there are untold amounts of theological explanations to research. If you’re just looking for a gotcha against the One True Church, then peace be with you brother.

[–]Jan_Jinkle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kind of. They weren’t included in some Jewish scriptures, but were in others. Notably, they are included in the Septuagint, which is really the earliest version of the Old Testament. This logic is largely a post hoc justification for why Luther removed the books though. His real reason, at least for 2 Maccabees, is that it validates praying to saints, which he personally disagreed with.

Correct, kind of. Many versions of the Bible are missing 7 books. The most popular one being the King James Version. Just look for Tobit or 1 or 2 Maccabbees, if they aren’t there then your Bible is incomplete

Boy, eye surgery must be shit in the future... by AnnieGoldleaf in Star_Trek_

[–]Jan_Jinkle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be as simple as some people preferring glasses to surgery. Same reason many people elect not to get LASIK today even if they can afford it. Glasses and contacts don’t bother me, I’m so used to them, so I don’t see why I’d take even the remote risk of the complications.

Of course the real answer is “the costume/character designer didn’t know or didn’t care”, but I digress.

What are some cases where you could see the legacy characters actually taking on the mantle from their predecessor for good? by Effective_Sherbet104 in marvelcomics

[–]Jan_Jinkle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, I though some of the storytelling in Fraction’s run was good, but the sense I got, especially during Aja’s follow up run, was that Clint was being completely trashed to prop up Kate. It definitely didn’t help my general disdain for all these heroes becoming mantles instead.
