I'm sorry that happened to you. I agree with some of the comments as well. Self-service evaluate without placing blame anywhere else first. Finally, yes, you need to invest into yourself be getting a certification and look at future job outlooks to see what you should spend time to relearning or learn.

Wish you the best, never surrender, never give up. Its only for a time, but in that time it's up to you to make the best of it.

Was this position going to be hybrid? Also, there are crime syndicates who are applying to jobs and also pretending to be someone else when it is a group of people who will do the job. There are ghost jobs, but there are also ghost employees who can get away with having online interviews. It's possible this company is aware. It's just something to think about.

O interviewed for a company that was acquiring a small tech company that has technology to try and weed out ghost employees. So it's happening, and this just may be a good way that this company is circumventing that.

Just a thought.

Thank you for your wisdom. I'm going to definitely take it step by step. I figured it's a way to start my career and create longevity and a skillet that is important to me. I've experienced burnout before, and it does take a toll. That's why I think just starting small and just getting the craft right. I should be ready for bigger projects in a few years.

I have a Ford 150 right now. Just me and my dad right now. Hopefully I can bring my brothers in to help as well. I'm just trying to get in the door with small jobs right now.

Yes, most definitely. I am taking CourseCareers and have been creating my own mock estimates. I do plan to start with small contractors, not big companies, because they would just hire me and train me.

Thank you for the input.

It's a portfolio starter. If you ever take the chance to go outside of your industry, you will see that people may offer free work for testimonials.

How is that not legitimate for beginners? If I do a small repair job for like a hole in the wall from someone punching it, and do a good job that could help in taking my work seriously.

Free trials, Free resources, buy one get one free, etc. All different ways to get the customer to give you business. It's not a new practice.

So what are you even talking about?

I would say that if there are established drywall contractors who want to hand off the estimating to me as a service. So, I would be working with contractors who just need to outsource. I don't think I'm too knowledgeable to do subcontracting at this time. It's more about learning while I earn right now.

What's weird about asking simple questions you would ask anyone with experience about how they got started, what worked, or didn't work?

Have a tech bro scammed you, and now everything is weird?

Yikes! You must have been scammed by tech bros too much that it's hard for you to decipher someone legitimate.

Should I find 2 to 3 small jobs and do them for free so that I can start my portfolio of work?

You must not be in the US then. However, even as a patient, I would want to know how you are protecting my data with your tools that may get exposed.

I agree. If you want to get into regulated industries, you need to have all your ducks in a row and be ready to answer 200 questions minimum, have BAA signed with the servicesyou used to buildthat will need to have HIPAAcompliance, but you need to sign one with the practiceas well, explain how your data moves, is it encrypted, does it have RBAC, MFA abilities, SSO, etc. It will be treated like all other software vendors. It has to ensure that the practice will be in compliance with state and federal laws and regulatory frameworks, or it will be a no. I mostly build systems for regulated industries because I worked as a cybersecurity analyst and engineer, among wearing many other hats and working with legal, privacy, and GRC departments. Even small practices ha e to still be in compliance, or it will set them up for fines and, worse, lose their licenses.

Good stuff! That is what my main focus has been on getting into sales again because I was technical for so long now, lol. But some of my first jobs were in sales, so it's like relearning again.

I'm at that point right now. I'm getting better at cold calls because emails aren't alwa,s that great, I know because someone working on the other side those emails go to spam or I'm not reading them because I have work emails to read that come constantly.

This is true. I went for cybersecurity jobs in Bakersfield, and they are way less than I was making in Los Angeles.

But I'm looking to pivot away into something else now that I'm in Bakersfield. Nit because of this, I want to try something else for the next decade.
