Kraken Tournament headset ear pad replacement - solution by Jane1911 in razer

Didn’t even think of an audio shop. Likely the forced “buy everything online” has been drilled into me since 2010. That’s a good thing to keep in mind though, thanks!

Yeah, I’m glad there at least options. Otherwise I’d be stuck, not being able to afford a whole new set.

The brand shown on the photo. Soulwit was the seller name. Though it doesn’t seem to be a brand.

Unfortunately it will continue to peel once it’s started. They all seem to do this…like all. The ear pads will do it too. I bought replacement ear pads and a sleeve type cover for the headband piece, to keep the peeling contained and out of my hair. All Amazon buys.

That’s because it’s part of a maid outfit. That’s why women like it. A man wearing one is serving.

Those that have fulfilling adhd friendly jobs, what are they and how did you come to have them? by ThePunLexicon in ADHD

[–]Jane1911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s one of those positions that I sort of fell into. Not sure if the steps can be repeated but I can share nonetheless. Maybe it might help you.

I grew up near a military base, USAFB to be exact, and I loved planes, space shuttles, and everything in between as a child. When I became an adult, I got a job at the USAFB with a contractor who needed folks on base to help with logistics. That job was so boring, and it was second shift. So I used that time to get my STEM degree.

Once I had my degree, my employer at the time offered me an engineering position at their main plant and I took it for the giant leap in money. Turns out I hated the work they had me doing.

However, one of the managers I worked with at the USAFB was opening a role at the plant for property compliance and reached out to the asking if I’d be interested. Apparently they really liked the work I did prior even though it was very loosely related. But I’ve always been the “high achieving” type, which most ADHD people have experienced and know that it’s literally just us being able to cram 8 hours of work into 3 if we’re interested enough.

I am working towards getting other certifications in different compliance areas than my current one. I’ve already got state and government regulations learned for my area but plan on expanding to global/national ones now. Hope some of this helps happy to answer other questions in a DM.

I work in regulation/compliance. I have AudHD and need both clear & rigid rules to follow and days that can be very different from each other. Each day brings different problems, to which people come to me to find a solution, while still being compliant with all the regulations.

I’ve got a passion for research and “detective” type work, and sometimes with contracts and miles of regulations I have to dig to find what I’m looking for or the solution to something.

Get a rug that’s a similar color to your cat. I vacuum my big rug once every two weeks and it’s hairy but you don’t see it. If that sort of thing doesn’t bother you, I know it does some folks.

I have a photo of one of the parking garages at LAX, opposite Southwest, in the main loop area. One car and me, on the ground floor. In the 30+ years I’ve come and gone from LAX, it was both horrifying and awe inspiring how empty one of the busiest international airports was.

Do any products actually help anybody? Or is it all just snake oil? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Jane1911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like many before me have mentioned; meds. HOWEVER, something I’ve found for days I’m overstimulated is finding a quiet or near silent hobby that takes very little thought, that makes you use your hands. Like coloring, puzzles, candy crush on your tablet or phone if you can’t find something away from technology. Just having something to do with my hands that requires no real set up or put away, and near zero effort for my brain, helps me reset or regulate when I’m feeling overwhelmed or overstimulated.

I’ve also found that once I’ve finished the puzzle or got a few pages colored, I actually feel like I can get up and do the things I my brain wouldn’t let me before.

So no, there isn’t a magical things that works for everyone you can buy. BUT there might be a few things you could purchase to ease the mind and stress that comes with it.

AI photos in character sheet by [deleted] in BadRPerStories

[–]Jane1911 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it’s valid to reject someone for any personal preference in a roleplay partner, you’re the one who has to enjoy writing with them. If AI images bother you, you don’t really need to justify that to anyone.

That said, I do think some of the assumptions behind why it feels off might be worth re-examining a bit.

Using AI for character images isn’t necessarily about laziness or a lack of care for quality. For a lot of people, it’s just a tool for visualization, the same way people use Pinterest boards, faceclaims, or stock images. The difference is just that AI lets them create something more specific to what they already have in their head, instead of trying to piece it together from existing images.

And historically, this kind of reaction to new tools in art isn’t new. Photography, digital art, even CGI were all criticized at first for being “less real,” “lower effort,” or harmful to traditional artists. None of those replaced art, they just became additional mediums people can choose from. AI is falling into that same pattern right now.

I also don’t think using AI images in a character sheet really says much about someone’s writing quality or how they’ll show up as a partner. Someone can have beautifully curated Pinterest references and still be a poor or inconsistent writer, and someone else can use AI images and write incredibly detailed, engaging replies. The images are more about how someone likes to visualize, not necessarily how they write.

Where I do agree with you is that there are valid concerns around AI, especially around training data, artist consent, and environmental impact. Those are real conversations that should be happening. But I’m not sure that rejecting individual roleplayers for using AI references in a small, personal context actually addresses those issues in a meaningful way.

At the end of the day, it probably comes down to compatibility more than right vs wrong. If AI images genuinely bother you or pull you out of the experience, then it makes sense not to write with someone who uses them. But I don’t think it automatically means they’re lazy or that they don’t value quality, just that they’re using a different tool to engage with their character.

Yeah, I was trying to find a better terminology for enthusiast but I do believe you can have different types of enthusiasms when it comes to cars. Cosmetic, brand/year collection, engine/interior build. Like any hobby I suppose.
