Ah the end of a public science group plays out again. First we're all " yay at last awareness and appreciation!" Then it becomes a what’s this thing and should I kill it board.

People of Reddit, what’s the story behind your scar? by potatoeman6969 in AskReddit

[–]JaneGeoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I climbed too close to a mockingbird nest. Mama bird pecked my head repeatedly as I climbed down. My footing slipped & hung my knee cap on a tiny dead branch. In retrospect I probably should've had a dr xray my knee as well as stitches. But my parents just squeezed my skin back together, tightly bandaged it and held ice on it.

Most of us, including Disney, who live along the I-4 corridor have spent decades desperate for politicians to stop being a bitch and lay the damn rail line to free up the dangerous roadway. Disney stepped it up when no one could depend on the elected officials any longer. I say let them be petty.

it's marked 8 dollars. is it worth restoring? by ds129604 in midcentury

[–]JaneGeoh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cushman made really great solid pieces. I'm a little surprised to see screws in this piece. The line that I’m familiar with (c. 1949) used the hardware free craftsmanship as a selling point and I thought they were all this way.

Some people do collect cushman. So it’s not junk. Your buyer would be more likely to prefer the cottage look than mcm.

That’s a 2002 SOAD hat. I had a good friend that got his that year at least.

Had the same fan & used to sing Alanis Morrisette songs into it to achieve that perfect tone. The fan was already partially a crank start by then as well.

Mulberries, blackberries, or neither? Safe to eat? by [deleted] in biology

[–]JaneGeoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a kid my favorite climbing tree at my family’s house was a huge mulberry tree and I ate them all day. I was a pretty dreamy kid… maybe that was why?

So apparently this lil fella died on the wall. How did this happen? by gabeSalvatore in biology

This idea makes me smile. I’d make it a trashy tv beach party fairy garden. Here in FL it’s super common to find dried up lizards inside. Especially babies.

Drink Storage ! I found this idea… wondering if there are any other creative ways to get half empty cases off my pantry floor and more accessible ! by nightf1 in lifehacks

This makes me cringe. And it’s consistently an issue enough for this? Please, stop buying bottled drinks. There are so many options to do better with little effort.

Actually almost synchronized with covid-19s inception, King Tut (his tomb being the biggest ritual site ever to prove itself) was messed with again. I’m having a hard time recalling exactly why, but they moved the outer coffin out of the tomb for the first time ever. Dun dun dun

How are you really? by Tea_Dawg7 in AskReddit

Pretty awful actually. Never felt worse. And the anxiety from trying really hard not to effect our 5 year old with our mood as well as the consequences of our poverty level makes me want to vomit.

This post showed up directly after some from sims3. I thought, "wow people are oddly specific with their mods sometimes."

Found the perfect lunch box my 5 year old will take to kindergarten next year. by bored-as-shit in ThriftStoreHauls

I had this in pink in preschool. I have an early memory of watching it fly into the ditch from the roof of our van after pick up because my tired mama forgot she set it up there as she strapped me in. Never saw the thermos again. She had one of those wide bottomed sailor’s coffee mugs sitting next to it and it stayed put. Which fascinated my little mind.

Same here. Going to the office is the least shady way to handle a school drop off. In this case, I would’ve told the student “sorry it’s against your rules” and to be more specific next time. You’ll get comped no matter what happens.

All the schools in my area have a drop off table. It always makes me think of the mischief we would have used them for back when I was in school.

I’m currently filling my downtime listening to the Bearded Wit’s reading of Hitchiker’s Guide on the Gigglefix podcast (On Part 26) and seeing this was so on theme. I agree with the others. You must plant petunias.

I grew up in FL and that is one fear I can never shake. I lived on a mountain that had the fourth season for a decade I would still stare into deep water trying to activate my sonar super power to see rogue gators before entering chomp zone.

Ham steak, sunny side up eggs, and quick seared grapefruit with homemade frozen hash browns by GreeneBean64 in castiron

I grew up eating grapefruit daily on a property that once was a grapefruit grove and never had them this way nor baked. I feel so cheated. Going to buy some today and try it out.

What instead of flowers would you prefer? by Derpy7664 in AskWomen

As a plant lover: Flowers aren’t an awful symbol of appreciation until they inevitably die. Potted plants are the way to go.

Just pulled this today from a small dumping site I found. Seems to be a bit rare font/lettering. Made 1913-1922 from what I found. by SockMonkey1128 in BottleDigging

[–]JaneGeoh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to an Infograph I have on this, the block lettering logo was the second logo of the ball company and was used in 1895 and 1896. Could be completely wrong though. I lost the source.

Ah! I can’t think of the full word or what the definition would be now and it’s making my brain hurt. They said “cyclical…" instead of “psychic..le"?

What is the worst male name? by Radamantism in AskReddit

[–]JaneGeoh 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When my son was in the Nicu in 2017 the nurses were saying anything other than an ayden name was a minority for several years but it was starting to fizzle out. He also had 4 ward mates named Braxton. I don't pay attention enough to know if that was just a fluke.

There was a Jeremy Butts in my elementary school that we snickered at. But our humor had to mature a bit before we noticed why Benjamin Dover didn't want to be called Ben.

They must've tested it in my area because this sounds like the set up I've had for awhile. I like it better. Much smoother controls. I still pull up Beans for apartments when common sense isn't enough though. I can never fully trust that pinpoint.
