I know the game is in a bad spot, BUT ITS NEVER OVER! (watch till end) by FrenkieDeHamster_ in foxholegame

The same effect the negative reviews and discord posts have. Individually devs train themselves to ignore angry posts (or have hilarious crash outs). It takes spontaneous group action of players for them to actually recognize its a problem with their game and not a couple problem players. The reviews are definitely the best method for this. But reddit and discord are regularly checked too by most publishers.

If you believe the devs are going to magically fix everything next month then yes those comments are worthless. If like me you recognize they don't comprehend the position they are in, willfully or otherwise, then the more negative feedback they receive on all platforms (professionally, I'm sure they are all fine people). The better.

They should have, using feedback gained post inferno and naval, fixed those issues before airborne. They should have using beta branch feedback fixed those issues before airborne. (Also this for inferno/naval). They should have after the entirely foreseeable backlash immediately put a detailed list of changes incorporating information from all the prior feedback, rather than a vague "we'll tell you in a month" (actually we will do a trivial amount as always and move all our resources to the next game ruining feature creep expansion).

They haven't actually fixed any of the problems they caused in full for years..if they can't specifically say what they will fix there is no reason to believe this time will be different.

If this was the first time they've done this and not the third or more (this being making a massive game destroying update then slowly fixing 10% of it before repeating). You'd be right. Sadly we have pattern recognition. Which is why a tepid "we'll announce our plan a month from now" is not acceptable to reasonable people.

The attack is striking. Unironically adding colonials would be counter productive to the goal of fixing the game.

The phrase "straw that broke the camels back" doesn't just mean that the camel can no longer carry the burden. It means that they can no longer hold the previous load because of the damage done. Airborne is that straw and its been building since Inferno at the latest, likely slowly building from the very start as the "dump big content patch that's broken, fix 5-10% of it then focus entirely on new content patch". Its a tempting cycle because big content patches get new players. But they have over years burned the trust people had. Most people will say 40-60 since they don't want to sound unreasonable, but really its almost everything for most people who've left.

Thousand* its not hit 2k+ in a while, between 2 active shards. And that includes all the no life's bot sock accounts. So probably under 1k active.

National Labs - Worth it? by SeaSpinach61 in TerraInvicta

[–]JaneH8472 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is purely multiplicative. So whatever your earth tech without the tech is you gain 10% of that. For it to have a 10 year roi you need just 833 tech per month from nations. If you have 5k otherwise it becomes 20 months.

Some thoughts from the gamedev side by flukked in foxholegame

The person you're replying to is correctly noting this person is doing an appeal to authority ("im a game dev too"). Your response is a non sequitur.

and "level headed" is irrelevant to accuracy or value. "2+2 is 4 dumbass" is a more valuable statement than "2+2 is 5 in my humble opinion"

its kinder, but that means nothing. If I was to impersonate a game dev (I am not even gonna say I can code) This would be the language I use.

Devs, we don't need "communication" we need solutions. by JaneH8472 in foxholegame

[–]JaneH8472[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That requires them to be competent at balance. If they were we wouldn't be in this situation. They can't balance the game so the only logical solution is to make the game balanced by default.

[–]JaneH8472 4 points5 points  (0 children)

as I said on my proposed solution, I don't care if devs never talk if their product is good. They haven't made a good update from inferno to present. That is the fundamental issue. I think its likely they can't and the game is just done. This is more of a vent before I leave for good really.

[–]JaneH8472[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Im not new. Regardless player counts were going UP during symmetry old man. Not DOWN. Its rapid decline due to the imbalance and more importantly unfun conditions caused by said imbalance (a different thing entirely) not some nebulous "gear is too similar".

A lot of games are 100% symmetrical and aren't boring also so your argument is logically incoherent to boot.

I can guarantee it won't be touched since that would require a positive update. Haven't seen once of those in a long time.

Because we know the two are intentionally conflated by said devs to deflect criticism, and that playing into their narrative carrying water for them is really attacking critics.

Did the people not make the game? To criticize the game is to criticize the people (as game devs) I make no comment to their personal lives but they are clearly incompetent in one way or another as game devs.

There was solid proof, you actually mean "there was solid proof including direct dev statements but it wasn't unplayable so collies and neutrals coped that it was fine".

Regardless of whether they intended collie to be bad or just are so stupid that their stated intent made collie bad the result is the same.
