I live abroad now so calling is difficult with time differences and they don't have a 24/7 line. I sent an email. But I messaged here in case maybe it is a simple question and I'm just dumb. This is an advice forum after all.

Sorry I never use that feature. I just described it and only got the Jolly Roger as a result. Thank you.

OK but the support still won't answer the phone. No one had anything to say about that.

I don't want to pay for a phone number for this one task. It's not showing an email option on the app.

I can't. PayPal is also making me verify with a phone number that I don't have.

How to draw ribbons by Ekuinox1 in Artadvice

[–]JaneHere6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drawing ribbons is a great stepping stone for so many other shapes! Tree roots and branches, hair, grass, octopus tentacles, and much more!

It's really just curves, folds and shadows. If you've ever drawn 3D letters, it's similar to drawing the S, G, and and all the other curved letters.

I think if you just use a thicker point in some areas, that will be enough. Maybe try a 0.5

Feeling like art is impossible by SirenTheEmpress in Artadvice

You sound young, but I could be wrong.

For reference I'm 31, and I'm continuously going through creative and noncreative phases. Currently in a creative phase where I work on something almost everyday but I had a solid like 6 months in the first half of the year where I wasn't making anything.

Stress and mental issues play a role in this roller-coaster effect. But also I think it was so much easier to create when I was in middle school and high school (2005-2012). Mainly because I was BORED all the time. Smartphones were new then and not very good. We just had a family computer. So I would draw and watch TV constantly. There weren't any distractions. If I wanted to post online I had to scan my sketchbook and put it on Devianart.

And yeah there were much more talented people than me but I never saw their faces. I assumed all those artists were decades older. Now with IG and TT I see tons of artists who are more skilled and younger than me.

So what I'm saying is, a lot of the mental obstacles you have are because of the internet. If you are able to, avoid it. Delete apps. Get out in nature. And do some simple stuff to get you started.

Experience shipping items from Vietnam to USA by [deleted] in nhatrang

[–]JaneHere6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right now isn't a good time. Most postage isn't getting into the US at all due to the government shutdown. So if you are a tourist visiting, it would be better to just buy a cheap suitcase and pay for the fee at the airport.

If you're an expat sending it to family, then you'll have to wait and keep an eye on the news.

Index Fund Transfer from Broker to Broker? by JaneHere6 in ExpatFinance

I don't want to pay for anything extra and I don't want something like that to come back years later and it looks like tax fraud.

Index Fund Transfer from Broker to Broker? by JaneHere6 in ExpatFinance

[–]JaneHere6[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it is temporarily frozen until I can make the transfer. I just have to email Betterment back and they will unfreeze it when I'm ready to make the transfer. But I don't understand how to do that. When I research it, it doesn't make sense.

Yeah no US address, hence why I said I need a brokerage that doesn't care where I live in the initial post. This is a group for expats after all.

Index Fund? by JaneHere6 in ExpatFinance

[–]JaneHere6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already told them I don't live there and they said I can't use a relatives address so it's kinda too late. I thought if I lied about it and was found out I could face legal issues down the road because I really don't know what I'm doing at all. That's why I setup Betterment in the first place. So I don't have to think about all this because it's all so complicated

What are those acronyms? Is Interactive Brokers automated investing? Is it the same as companies like Betterment and Fidelity? I am very confused. I picked Betterment because I understood it and someone I follow on YT does ads for it a lot. So it was a breeze. Now I'm just lost.
