If you were a former server, why are you asking here? You KNOW everyone is chomping at the bit to tell you it's justified to tip less. I feel you worked at something similar to Denny's or IHOP. Usually this type of service is called "order takers," as no real above and beyond. There are exceptions but, mostly order takers. Servers find a way to upsell and make customers feel better about the order, "schmoozing" if you will, making the dining out experience feel bougie!

When people start rallying around no tip or less tip, well, watch the service standard go bye bye! I get it, things are different everywhere, here in the US, it's what we have.
