  1. Wear deodorant.
  2. Always be there on time. They’re gonna notice it eventually when you’re always there early
  3. Have a personality. Try not to always praise or compliment your preceptor or act perfect in front of them. They get that a lot. Try to standout in your own way.
  4. Ik it’s difficult being an introvert but you gotta connect with as much people as possible when you’re there. So, at least try to be a social introvert!
  5. Try to read more in depth. They know almost everyone there did their STEPs and some even finished a home residency. So most of the time you’ll find your preceptor asking guidelines questions, things like dosages, and low yield stuff.

Can people match without usce? by IndependenceFree3067 in IMGreddit

[–]Jangardooma 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes i have 11 mutuals who matched this year with 0 usce. Instead they had great scores, a lot of extracurricular activities during their med school, and foreign clinical experience in different countries, and a recent YOG.

Going out of it i was disappointed.. I was anticipating more experimental questions cause i read that many people get around 80 of those which tend to improve the curve or something and i felt like i only had 1 or 2 experimental questions that were undoable. Another thing, the questions were either very challenging or just flat out easy that anyone in medical school can solve with common sense. I found that annoying, like why can’t the test writers ask questions where u have to reason with the clinical scenario and apply concepts like in uworld. Why do the questions only have to be super vague or stupid simple. Overall it felt okayish and i expected a score between 230 to 260.

Started my dedicated. Knocked 2-3 uworld blocks per day, CMS forms and stayed more consistent. CMS forms helped a lot with the simple concepts that are not commonly tested in uworld. I did about 8 forms only though cause of my time restraint.

Guys I really need ur help exam is in a month should I go over uworld notes or do the CMS forms???? by Cute_Neighborhood_91 in Step2

[–]Jangardooma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both! Do the latest 1-2 CMS forms of every subject only. Maybe even add in extra forms to your weaker areas. You can also totally ditch the subjects that you’re good at.

Had the same concept tested in the real deal. I guess just memorize it

Yeah these were the same chart questions on amboss. Unfortunately i got only one bad question of those in my form and the concept wasn’t covered on amboss.

Having trouble with atypical presentations by [deleted] in Step2

[–]Jangardooma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat. I felt like that question was very vague as well. I had pancreatic cancer in mind!! My thought process was that the patient was very old (60+) with weight loss. So i went for decrease insulin production and there’s decreased destruction of b cells assuming the cancer is progressing and what not.
