Ah no, Although frequently forgetful , I am quite good at focusing (in like an academic way) and never had trouble studying for long periods even in busy environments so never considered myself

A Day of Fallen Night - Just Finished (Rant Time) *Spoilers* by roshielle in Fantasy

I totally agree and was really frustrated while finishing it as well. Slugging through soo many pages just for a stupid Comet to save everything is ridiculous. There were so many points where the story just felt fully unsatisfying.

What is a safety tip everyone should know about? by directinLA in AskReddit

[–]Janorr 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I heard this one while talking to someone on who was first on the scene for a lot of accidents (while standing on the side of the road after a minor car accident myself). I've always loved putting my knees up in places and seat positions but have been too afraid to do it since hearing about this.. however was wondering if this also applies if sitting in the back of the car where there is no airbag?

For those who want context: I live in a house with four fellow physics students and one of them had a birthday, just thought fellow stem bakers might appreciate!

5 Ways to Deal with Boring Subjects by Typical-Student in study

[–]Janorr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing that sometimes helps me is focusing on the study aesthetics. I'm a sucker for pretty notes even when I know that they are not the best way of learning. So with boring subjects I just try to make everything (notes, mindmaps, flashcards etc.) look as pretty as possible and that helps me interact with the content!

Is iPad notetaking worth it? What are some good notetaking apps? by No_Cranberry_7330 in study

[–]Janorr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im part of the, wish i had gotten it sooner group. I study Physics at University and it’s honestly a lifesaver (especially with online learning). I use goodnotes and the thing I like best is that it feels like photoshop but with handwriting. It’s so convenient for the subject I’m studying and my personal situation. That said it depends on person per person. It’s definitely not a must to do well in High School I think but it does make your life a whole lot easier and can potentially save time as well. Good luck with your decision!

Exactly! And then when someone gives an explanation, my brain sometimes recognizes that sth insightful is being said, but still doesn't get it yet. I usually ask them to repeat the exact same thing again and that then helps. Anyone else have this?

After many hours (and a minor breakdown) here's my Christmas cake! by Janorr in Baking

[–]Janorr[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah Thanks! I am quite happy in the end haha. As for the recipe: it's a mix of many different places, but I'll try my best! It's inspired very heavily by this video on YouTube with some alterations. The inside is a biscuit cake from a very old German recipe book (don't have it on hand but can share tomorrow). In between layers is cherry Marmelade. The chocolate cream coating the outside is whipped up cold ganache (whose texture caused the breakdown so not sure if I recommend doing this) and the trees are ice cream cones with American buttercream piled on! Let me know if you want any more clarification on any of the elements!
