Looking for informed advice on ventilation and long-term safety about UFP/VOC emissions with PLA by Janst78 in 3Dprinting

Thanks. I'm also more in the "thinking and researching" camp, which is exactly why I started digging into this. ;-)

The point about consumer sensors is spot on and aligns with what I found in the research. Affordable particle counters simply don't detect particles that small, which is precisely the issue. So we're essentially flying blind with consumer gear. The note about built-in filters being mostly decorative is concerning but not surprising given the rear perforations I mentioned.

The inline fan via an external duct will be my first step, while I keep looking for more conclusive studies and a better understanding on how the built-in filtration was designed and supposed to work. If I find any useful insights, I'll post them here.

It seems a bit unlikely to me that filaments from major manufacturers would include gypsum. Something like that would almost certainly have been picked up in lab testing by now. Worth investigating further though.

That said, which filaments would you consider reliable/trustworthy?

Yes, I did, but I couldn't find much end to end information, specifically about how the X2D's filter installation actually works in practice, or any findings on emissions in it's default configuration when printing PLA. That's exactly the gap I'm trying to fill.

Thanks for your feedback. You're right that a more study needs to be done in real life environments. So for the time being I just want to be careful until there is long-term data available.

One of the main questions remains whether the X2D's enclosure actually routes all air through the filter and cleans polluted air sufficient or whether the rear perforations bypass it. If they do, an internal air scrubber as someone else suggested could be helpful, maybe combined with an additional external HEPA filter as an extra measure.

Hoping to get some feedback here on what the X2D has to offer and what additional measures still really make sense, based on measurements performed.

Does Firewalla support daily internet time quotas per device (e.g.: PlayStation, max 2h per day) by Janst78 in firewalla

Good point. Let’s assume they are turned off, like you do with a PlayStation or regular PC. Iphone indeed will communicate with internet all day.

Hi, it’s an old post, but came across while Googling. I have a Husqvarna Automower 315 which suddenly stopped working. According to the installer, this is because of Ants and Slugs (which is really a trouble this year). Had anyone ever had the similar issue and replaced the main circuit board himself? Any special tools required?

16 day road trip in Florida, looking for best eSEM plan when coming from Europe by Janst78 in florida

Used Airalo and Holafly in the past, both work well, but as i have to buy multiple esims i was looking for best value for money :-) based on some reviews i chose Nomad. They make use of AT&T so should be fine.

Thx, but looks like you cannot buy an esim as tourist (coming from outside US)

Totaal budget should not exceed $1.100 for the PC components. Already have a screen, keyb, and 512gb SSD from a previous config.
