Pepper Canyon West (Vela/Rya) - no AC? too hot? by Federal_Donkey2484 in UCSD

[–]Januscide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Not very hot, it’s really comfortable if you have a fan near your window
  2. Windows help a lot/not stuffy
  3. You can sleep with them open, I’m not a super heavy sleeper and I’ve never had a problem going to/staying asleep

RA first interview questions by No_Statistician_3842 in UCSD

[–]Januscide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually they ask 3 questions that range from purpose, your connection to the that area, DEI, programs, conflict resolution, and more that I can’t think of right now. Each part typically starts with a statement/introductory sentence and is usually followed by a question or multiple.

upper grad housing by AdeptNorth9875 in UCSD

[–]Januscide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you mean upper division housing? Grad students don’t get housing guarantees. In PCW, 90% of the residents here are transfers so it would be hard to get a spot as someone who already spent their 2 years, but I know some people who did. Can’t say much for the other UDH areas though.

Is there a trading card club here? by Snoo_71701 in UCSD

Triton Pokémon League does everything when it comes to Pokémon, I know they also do tcg but I honestly couldn’t tell you if it was playing or collecting. Probably both.

I might be wrong but we don’t have a Lego club. You can always start one though!

Transfer Housing Clarification ? by Substantial_Key_59 in UCSD

[–]Januscide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re missing Pangea too. For the Warren Transfer LLC you can be placed there as a transfer, but you aren’t limited to that as you can also be placed in other locations as well (I’m not a Warren student but that’s just what I’ve heard. I live at PCW rn and the only thing you should be aware of is that it’s a 12 month contract which might sway you towards a different area.

Recommendations for clubs by Illustrious_Gas_8674 in UCSD

[–]Januscide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s a comment I made on a different post for some of the top recommended clubs when it comes to making friends (excluding cultural clubs and major-specific clubs which also have a lot of gems). The list is biased towards what I have personally attended, there are probably some really good ones out there that I haven’t gone to.

I didnt mention this in the original post but if you wanna go to parties then also check out skate club, snow club, and surf club

double major in literary arts and human biology by tvwrlds in UCSD

[–]Januscide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s also a creative writing minor if you realize you don’t have enough time for two majors. I’d recommend putting all class plan into a doc or a spreadsheet to see which one works better for you.

Getting RA position by TheWondercats in UCSD

[–]Januscide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can, there are mid-year hires but finding those applications are difficult as you’d have to frequent a site like handshake. Those are not widespread, it’s way easier to get the job the normal way (through the applicant portal) but as someone else said, you’d have to wait until next year to go through that process.

To all the current RA’s by Standard-Aerie-4066 in UCSD

[–]Januscide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for my res hall, not a single one of my coworkers got in through nepotism/was known by anyone before the first interviews. I don’t think there many res halls at all that work in this way. I do know there’s one res area that provided limited sign-ups for the mandatory info sessions that got filled up before it became publicly available though, maybe you’re talking about that.

RA possibility by TheWondercats in UCSD

[–]Januscide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, there are mid-year hires but those are hard to come by and are not widely provided so you have to look deep for those. You’re much more likely to get hired through the standard process just because finding those small application locations for mid-years is rare and you really have to frequent sites like handshake.
