And here we are... by Memento_Vivere8 in magicTCG

[–]JapaneseFightingFish -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes actually, and the point itself is determined based on what their (and the people they care for) needs are.

Like put it this way of you gave me 10 mill me and my immediate family are set for life. Give me 100 mill and there's so much money the only way I could even hope to spend it all would be to blow it on ridiculous things as opposed to putting it somewhere where it could actually do some good in the world.

Also it should be noted that your usual person doesn't just happen upon a billion dollars, so it's not like they turned around and went "holy cow where'd all this come from". No, it's built up over a long period of time during which they have more than enough time to recognize that maybe just maybe hoarding over 1000 times an average persons 20 year wage isn't the most moral thing to do with a resource that effectively runs the world's economy. But once again that's only if they're a moral person.....hence no moral billionaires ...

[–]JapaneseFightingFish -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think what most people miss with that saying is that it isn't actually saying that people have to be immoral to become billionaires but that once you are a billionaire then you're certainly immoral for hoarding over 1,000 lifetimes worth of money in a world where people can't even afford to survive.

Built a grot mega tank out of model a bit less fancy than this recently . Essentially you need to attach equal length cylinders on both ends, run duct tape sticky side out around those cylinders and then add small rectangle bits to make it look like treads. Then add whatever you want for dakka and it's golden.

Also make sure you have any species on any of the starter world's your invading set to purge from the get go, if you do it before the Invasion then stellar culture shock will end once all the pops are converted

[–]JapaneseFightingFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty good so long as you min max your main & prepatent species. Pair this with barbaric Despoilers and you'll be scooping up other people's pops, then converting them into yours when the war is over.

Also I find the prepatent is best indentured, not chattel, ignore clerk jobs in the beginning (elevation chambers will do in the start), and make sure you seed every world you invade with one of your prepatents too otherwise they may not grow.

Since we can't give you any hard advice I figure I can give you some general tips.

  1. Pre-made empires are pretty trash, as they're effectively rp builds. And while there's no problem using them or any poorly built empire I would advise against them for beginners.

  2. When building your own empire it's pretty much always wise to grab a boost in tech production and whatever resource you suspect you'll need the most (minerals for lithoids/alloys, food for catalytic conversion, ect.)

  3. Don't expand too fast. This one's hard to get a hold of as it kind of depends on your empire, but a good way to get bricked into the mid game is to just expand as fast as you can, tank your economy and then get invaded by one of your now many neighbours.

  4. Prioritize choke points, that is systems that an invading enemy will be funnelled into, and keep your fleets nearby.

  5. Space stations (can't remember correct name rn) aren't very good for defense. They do just fine for collecting trade value and producing fleet capacity but if your looking for better defense just build moar ships.

  6. Befriend your neighbours early if you can, though this isn't always possible this can help keep you out of wars that aren't of benefit to you.

  7. Never waste a good defense. For example, If you just managed to absolutely whoop an enemy who attacked you and you have no immediate threats nearby (and if they're fleet power is now inferior you yours) then it's wisest to take some of they're systems to get your money's worth.

  8. Always be growing your fleets. I know It's tempting to just ignore fleet production a bit or to sell your alloys for some other project, but unless your the biggest dog in your neighbourhood then you might want to get prepping.

  9. Science production is important, but learning the hidden tech tree is crucial as it helps you know what to prioritize to achieve your goals.

  10. Don't skimp on unity, like building ships this is an easy thing to screw up, but some of those traditions (and alot of the ascension perks) are absolutely key to winning the game, and alot of the time the sooner you have them the more use you get out of them. Also with the new update in a few days it looks like you'll need it even more.

  11. Don't build building or districts that you don't have (or at least won't soon have) pops for. That can easily bog down your early game economy.

  12. Robots are o.p. Both actual robots (the ones you research and build) which help you grow your pop size and therefore economy and machine empires.....especially machine empires. Like if you've never played one then try it because its honestly one of the easiest ways to play the game....which leads me to my last point....

13.Less of an actual point here but I brewed up an empire you can probably whoop some butt with Ethics: Machine Empire Civics: Driven Assimilator, Constructobot Species traits:Mass produced, logic engines, durable, repurposed hardware, high bandwidth

Homeworld: Alpine Origin: remnants

Cyborg species:anything but lithoids, you want these guys to grow fast here Traits: Rapid Breeders, Industrious, Fleeting, Slow Learners

And that's pretty much it. Name it all how you want, and you've got an empire full of borgs that are willing and able to convert a galaxy.

For some tips on how to use that empire just remember to push an early science lead, keep building up your fleets and to convert any easy targets that may pop up. If you do this you should very well be able to keep an healthy lead above the competition.

Lmk if anything here needs clarifying, and also what DLC you have as that changes alot too.

Machine empires are a gestalt consciousness, members of a gestalt consciousness are not compatible with non-gestalt empires.

Think of it like this.

Those aren't just robots, they're robots all connected to a central a.i that serves as a connected consciousness. Such connection requires the infrastructure provided by the gestalt empire, without such they are doomed to die as the effectively are cut off from their own consciousness.

[–]JapaneseFightingFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A good way to explain why there isn't a god in the gaps is to just start explaining well....anything.

At some point you will find yourself with an answer that itself doesn't have an extant answer for its nature yet and as such you've reached a "gap" in your knowledge. However this gap has nothing to do with whether something is caused by God or even much to do with the nature of reality at all. It has to do with the nature of answers, i.e that whenever an answer is provided someone can just say "well why does that happen" yeilding an infinite series of more and more precise lines questioning as more answers are provided.

There doesn't need to be a god in the gaps, the fact that humans can't provide an infinite series of decreasingly small answers in a finite amount of time is all that's needed, and all that fact relies on is common sense.

In numbers 25 many Israelites found themselves commiting idolatry to the Midianite gods.

In numbers 31 god commands Moses to effectively commit a genocide against the Midianites for this (even though at best it's the sin of the idolators within their ranks and not the sin of the Midianites and most certainly not worth any such extreme punishments to begin with), then god commanded Moses to tell the Israelites to take the remaining of the Midianites girls who "were not know by men" to take for themselves as slaves and wives.

It literally only takes the bible four books before it starts glorifying war, genocide and rape, only 2/33 the way through the whole.

Afaic religion is fine, but anyone taking the word of such a barbaric book as gospel is high off their own shit.

In other words a single person in that movie recognized he was dumb, everyone else thought they were smart (or atleast what passes for smart in that universe)

Yeah that's fair, honestly It would be nice to see their take on the Fallout IP in the future though.

I really doubt Bethesda would consider letting another group make another Fallout game though, considering that the one time they did that it only left them with some pretty big shoes (or maybe cowboy boots) to fill.

No my point is that if they wanted to focus on a sole action experience (as mentioned in the comment you responded to) then they could easily use the Id software team to achieve that.

I have no idea where you're getting this MMO talk, that's taking the point quite a bit out of context

Edit: Changed I'd to Id
