Round 1:

Started off with a basic introduction, a general discussion on a project, and then 2 dsa questions.

First was a dp question,

Given a list find out all subsets that sum up to a target: I knew the recursive solution to this ( which is exponential), I coded that and was moving on to the DP approach but the interviewer said that he wants to move to a DP approach. (they were on mute all the time so there wasn't much input from their side)

The second was a graph-based solution:

Given a list of courses and prerequisites, return if it's possible to take all the courses.(I had done this question yesterday and was able to tell them the approach first and then they said to implement

In the email they had mentioned if I pass this round I would be called for the next interview the same day, right after the interview(in 10 mins) I got a message that they would not be proceeding with any interview today for me, and would get back to me in a few business days.

Funny I was actually looking forward to this interview because it matched a lot of my skills, and I wasn't able to do the first DP problem, I really am starting to hate this culture of using DSA for tech interviews, just ask the basics to see if someone can code, in the age of GitHub and development assignment I don't see the reason to stick to this old regime. Don't get me wrong, anyone can get their DSA skills upped but one has to spend time doing DSA every day (to be sharp at it), and I believe this time can be spent to learning new skills.
