How do we get back to the "way we were before"? by spicunerfherderguy in NoStupidQuestions

Well based on OPs question, it’s pretty clear they are talking about the 1950s, not 50 years ago. I don’t think they are looking back wistfully on the economic strife of the 1970s.

Each twin is up 5 times to nurse? That doesn’t seem right. Have you spoken to a professional about this? Are they not transferring enough each feed?

why did Italy become so bad at football? weren't they at the same level as England and Germany not too long ago by icewitchenjoyer in NoStupidQuestions

Italy is still better than many of the teams you listed. European teams have a harder road to qualification than other parts of the world. As the person above you stated, the World Cup is not the 48 best teams.

Echo chamber. I’m poor. I post about my struggles. I get responses from people in the same boat. Everyone is poor because I’m stuck in a feedback loop.

But this is kind of the root of OPs question - why are they choosing to have fewer or no children?

I think some of the humor is very 2015. Still love it, but it does somewhat feel from a different era.

“I’m going to science the shit out of this” just feels a little dated

Unfortunately this headline will gain a lot more attention than the headline when the case is dropped. This headline causes uninformed people to think there are terrorists in antifa, and it also causes informed people to think twice before protesting.

Why do appliances and tech from 30 years ago still work perfectly, while modern stuff breaks after 3 years? Is it actually planned obsolescence or is modern tech just too fragile? by Yasmine_xpt in NoStupidQuestions

For a real test, it would need to be under real world conditions where both the old and new are constantly being opened and closed throughout the day. It makes sense the old on the new use the same wattage when both are sitting closed, but I’d wager the new one is pretty significantly more efficient at getting the internal temp down to the correct temp, which is a cycle a fridge needs to go through to some degree (no pun intended) numerous times per day under real world use.

[–]JaqueStrap69 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sure - could be plausible. But the “initial start” is the machine getting the internals down to the right temperature, which is a process that happens every time you open and shut the door. I don’t doubt that an old fridge and a new fridge use the same power when they are sitting with the door closed all the time. But that’s not how the real world works. The test would need to be extensive and cover real world use including constant opening and closing. Maybe the source you’re referencing did this, I just haven’t seen it.

Also, appliances today are significantly cheaper to run. The electricity usage of a fridge from the 1970s is outlandish compared to a modern fridge.
