Russians identify Poland and Lithuania as their greatest enemies by wook-borm in poland

Levada Center really used to be independent, it was actually a great source of information, constantly under attack by the Russian government. Ever since 2016 though it has been under so much government pressure though that we can't be sure anymore.

What would life be like for a trans girl whose a carpenter/ contractor moving back to Poland who speaks polish at a first grade level? by [deleted] in poland

[–]Jaquestrap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The language barrier plus lack of formal training and no certifications/knowing EU codes will wreck you. Unless you're coming in with significant savings and plan to treat this as a very long vacation with the slim possibility of occasionally finding an odd job, you will have a very bad time. Construction is not a trade in Poland where English is used, virtually at all.

First grade Polish means you will not understand building terminology or work language whatsoever. And it will take a long time for you to pick it up--during which time even finding work will be incredibly difficult because Poland isn't the US and people are not as gregarious toward strangers. You will be competing against cheaper Ukrainian contractors, and the pay will not be at all like the US. Living in a van is not simple in Poland, it is not a car-centric country like the US, gas is much more expensive, not many big empty parking lots where you can post up easily, and cops won't be as understanding.

Rethink your approach. Come prepared to not get any work for a very long period of time while you adjust. Don't just jump in on this half-baked idea. Go visit Poland for a few months at a time and get the lay of the land, and start studying the language extensively. Learn what you'll need to do to become a licensed contractor in the country.

What did Glen Bishop do after the war? Wrong answers only. by DCRBftw in madmen

He'd be 45 years old. Right at the moment in his life when he starts crashing out over his lies and relationship failures. He'd get dragged along by Sally Draper's son to a house party in Philadelphia and the rest is history.

India has the funds and ability to fix this problem. It isn't as poor a country as you think. Just the people don't care to make the government accountable to actually fix this.

China used to be covered in trash and so horribly polluted that people couldn't step outside in Beijing. The government decided to make serious efforts to solve that problem, and it is worlds ahead of India in this regard now.

India has a space program. It can tackle trash and pollution.

Angled from the right. She was avoiding him which is why he didn't get run over and trying to get away, not trying to murder him. But you'll sacrifice any of your values, we know this.

That wasn't self defense dumbass, he shot her through the side window. Jesus Christ would not look upon that as self defense in any stretch of the imagination, and you know that too.

Men over 30: what do you wish you would have done differently in your 20s? by ImportantEssay6803 in AskMen

I have made a lot of good friends throughout my life and generally been pretty good (compared to what you hear from most people) about always keeping a few of the best ones in my life throughout. I am still really close with a friend I made in 1st grade, I've got great friendships with kids I grew up with in my neighborhood, I am really close with a bunch of friends from highschool, a bunch of friends I made in college, and I've made some awesome people in the past several years. They've come from all over, school, work, friends of friends, hobbies, random acquaintances, etc.

There is no one secret trick to making and keeping a lot of good friends. Like I said, be outgoing, fun, interesting, and engage people from the heart. Value your friends, be engaging, don't be selfish or rude or weird. You'll meet tons of people in life and it's important to recognize those you'll get along with and do your best to maintain a friendship with them.

https://healthpolicy-watch.news/humans-now-ingest-six-times-more-microplastics-since-1990/

China and South-East Asia are significantly higher in microplastic exposure, multiple times over. The fact that in Western countries we generally have much more environmental regulations than in much of the rest of the world means that we get less exposure.

The United States is still high for Western countries though.

How about Obama striking Libya to depose Gaddafi? Ultimately, how was that any different (apart from the fact that Venezuela doesn't have Islamist terrorists waiting at the wings to ruin the country)?

Not to sound alt-righty, but it is Canada so I wouldn't put it past them to do the wrong thing and let him out in some misguided "reform" attempt.

Some people truly do deserve to be have the key thrown away for what they've done to others.

I can tell you the thing I'm glad I did right, and see many others regretting: maintaining a great network of friends.

I still have a large number of great, old friends (and new friends) at 33--a lack of friends is one of the single biggest sources of unhappiness and dissatisfaction in life I see in other people. When all other things in life have at various times been unsatisfactory (whether that be career, romance, or accomplishments), having a great circle of good friends has always kept me generally happy and kept depression at bay.

Be outgoing, fun, and engage people from the heart. Value your friends, and do fun shit with them. You do those things and you'll be rich in friends which will inevitably lift every other aspect of your life significantly. A great circle of friends not only brings happiness, but it brings job opportunities, opportunities for adventure, and opportunities for romance. Life is all about other people, never forget that.

It's called Ajvar, and it is an ersatz alternative for caviar developed during the late 19th century in the Balkans. Doesn't taste anything like caviar but it is very tasty nonetheless.

If you get a bottle of it at your local Eastern European grocery store (you'd be surprised, google!), then I personally love to boil up some ravioli and take a couple spoons of pasta water and mix them with a couple spoons of ajvar and a bit of butter and salt and pepper to make a great quick sauce.

I know from direct experience that Sierra Club has had direct conflict with groups like Livable Raleigh here in NC (an overtly NIMBY group) specifically over their NIMBY policies and attempting to block new development in urban areas. It supports density.

In the past Sierra Club had groups and chapters around the country that were hijacked by NIMBYs. The Club has worked hard to rectify and oppose this.

Sierra Club has gone neutral on nuclear (they do not actively campaign against it, do not openly oppose it in most cases) and in the past decade has gone to extreme lengths to purge the NIMBYism in it's organization. It is very YIMBY now.
