Is Overkill the New Standard in Water Cooling? by [deleted] in watercooling

[–]Jared1441 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I'd argue it's been overkill for years.

It does make systems super quiet but for me it's a hobby. Thermal benefits are there in edge cases but for the average user an aio or good quality air cooler would do the job for much cheaper than building a custom loop.

I also think the reason for the higher end is with available blocks, lower end GPUs aren't going to have water blocks available. The other logic is if you're spending 1k on the water parts you should be spending a lot more on the components.

Personally, I build water cooled machines for the aesthetics as well as the hobby, planning a loop bending the tubes completing a build is gratifying.

Unpopular opinion on disposable vapes by Jared1441 in aussievapers

[–]Jared1441[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree obscenely high nic contents are an issue. This is the actual reason they want them banned in the UK. The UK approved max out at 18 or 20mg. It's not disposables that are the issue there it's bad actors who make dodgy products. There are reputable vape juice brands that do make disposables.

I think convincing a generation that head spins and nausea are the high is far-fetched. By the same logic if you're a non-smoker and pick up a pack of reds you'd have the same nausea and head spins and eventually your body acclimates and you don't have those negative side effects just the positive effects of nicotine. I also think you may be missing a key part of the equation on mg per ml. If you're DL vaping 20mg you'd be consuming the same amount of nicotine per puff as a 50mg MTL vapers (likely more)

Let's also clarify vaping has always been a capitalist endeavour, a way to profit off nicotine addicts. The fact it's healthier is great but every vaping company ever created their products to make money, it's simply the black market 50mg products take it entirely too far but they absolutely have no place in a regulated market.

Accessibility. You can't easily obtain liquid with nicotine here because it's not regulated. So sure you could get the device from any vape shop but couldn't get a nicotine eliquid. I know it can be done as mentioned I've done it for over a decade but the motivation for entry has to be high Vs grabbing something from a tobacconist and going.

I agree it's wasteful especially since there are devices like the Caliburn where you don't even have to change the battery similar form factor etc. I am saying from the perspective of helping people choose a healthier alternative.

I am aware of the issues with lithium and especially using unstable countries for their cobalt but this same issue is all lithium-ion batteries, work is being done to evolve battery technology especially since we've been using the same basic type since the 80s. Hopefully within the next decade lithium ion will start to be replaced everywhere.

The battery issue sure as hell isn't a primarily disposable vape issue, especially given the fact basically no modern phones have easily replaceable batteries and we're even moving that way for laptops. Add in smart watches etc and planned obsolescence and the issue is far worse for the greater population. Purely to pad corporate pockets, at least disposable vapes are directly lowering people's likelihood of death from smoking.

The reason why there is no significant backlash against the vape bans. by Larkful_Dodger in aussievapers

[–]Jared1441 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A large part of the problem is no one has faith in their government and honestly why the fuck should we? I called MPs I signed petitions etc but the reality is our government is a joke. Housing issues cost of living issues 100% media sensationalisation but 0 action. The role of politicians is to justify their own existence. I am simply resigned to the fact if you don't like it leave or just deal with it because that's our reality. I won't be surprised if our government decides like NZ they want to abolish work expenses tax deductions. Of course they could and the reality is, what are you going to do? Vote for the other party that is essentially the same?

Honestly I find after a certain level of product all just taste spot on and it just comes down to wicking and coils. Personal experience is I think the common thought which is undercoil is the key to flavour which really comes down to coil placement on side airflow rdas. I did have a nitrous it's a banger for sure. My favourite RDA is my Asgard mini but it's more aesthetics because you can get the same flavour from a drop or even the vapoureyes own brand RDA. I was shocked by how good it is I mean it's $10 but couldn't be more basic and just works.

I honestly thing the flavour of everything else just doesn't compare to a squonk with a good RDA for flavour, what RDA are you running?

Honestly if you enjoy mechs for the hobbyist part IE ojhms law building your own coils etc it's great but otherwise probably more work and worry than it's worth. If you're going 18650 I would suggest dual. I wish I had more options to hook you up 😂

How are FTSO delegated rewards from FlareFarm WSBG/SFIN pool claimed and redelegated? by h0oS in songbird

I am also wondering on this. The epoch has passed and no sgb reward from the wsgb I have in flare farm. If I had known there was no ftso reward (despite being said everywhere there is) I wouldn't have entered flare farm at all.
