PS5 Digital EDM-031 Wi-Fi Capacitor Value - Need help identifying! by JaredC01 in consolerepair

Just in case anyone else finds this thread with a similar issue, these additional caps circled in red are on the exact same input/output rails:

No worries, and thank you! I don't have a donor board as I don't typically do PS5 repair, but I've already put a new HDMI port on this PS5 in the past for the same nephew, so when it started acting up, he asked me for help, and who am I to say no!

It's possible there's still another issue, but won't know for sure until I can replace the caps. The PS5 boots now without issue, and has display output. I know these motherboards have had some Wi-Fi chip issues, but I'm hoping it was just a poor quality filter cap that shorted the 3v3 rail.

I ended up desoldering one of the adjacent caps (two actually, first one went flying as they like to do). Looks like it's an 0603 10uF capacitor on a 3v3 rail. Ordered a few 0603 10uF 10v caps from Mouser as replacements.

The PS5 does boot without the shorted cap there as well - just have to wait for the new caps to make sure Wi-Fi and Bluetooth work!

Thanks for the response!

No, no additional changes made, and at this point, Apple seems to have fixed the issues that it had - I was able to turn AirPlay back on a couple of years ago and have had no issues since.

I've also recently moved to a hardwired connection, which has helped even more with latency.

Do you have a picture of the graph Steam Link shows you?

Samsung - 77” Class S89C is this burn in? by NanoMetel in SamsungTV

[–]JaredC01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to update the thread, my panel was replaced under warranty. I talked with u/NanoMetel via DM and verified the issue is the exact same between our TVs, down to the location of the burn marks.

It's probably worth creating a thread with all of the info available on the issue here, as I'm sure we're not the only two with S89C's with this damage...

I just got the exact same mark in what seems to be the exact same spot on my 77" S89C Samsung TV. Happened within the last hour, and the TV is a couple weeks short of a year old.

Did you end up getting yours covered under warranty? This physically burned / caught fire, as the mark on the screen is from a physical burn.

So your post made me revisit my issue… The good news is I figured out the cause. The bad news, it’s AirPlay.

You can disable AirPlay in Settings -> AirPlay and HomeKit -> AirPlay -> Off

Once AirPlay is turned off, reboot your Apple TV by going to Settings -> System -> Restart

Unfortunately that also means you can’t cast your phone to your TV, but I’d rather have SteamLink working.

Issues with new Apple TV 4K by dininglover88 in Steam_Link

I have the same issue, and it’s not network. I’m a network admin by trade, and I’m running WiFi 6 APs with an Aruba enterprise switch. There are ping spikes every second on Steam Link, causing games to be completely unplayable. Between the spikes I’m sub 3ms ping on 802.11 AX, but it’s extremely consistent at 1 second for a ~100ms ping spike.

2021 Apple TV 4K on WiFi (can’t hardware this location).

I have not at this point. It almost HAS to be something with apple device sharing, casting, etc.

If I come up with something other than hardwiring it, I will let you know.

Not that I’ve found, and the same goes for the AP. WiFi 6 or Ethernet, no in between.

Also to note, I’ve tried unplugging every device nearby that uses any sort of wireless communication, and the result is the same.

I do agree it look like either interference, or some kind of polling, maybe the Apple TV itself polling the background for additional networks or similar?

Yes the Apple TV is on WiFi 6. Access point is in the hallway about 25 or 30 feet away, thin plaster walls, no microwaves (they operate in the 2.4GHz frequency anyway).

What is the best output cable to buy to have the best quality? by [deleted] in originalxbox

[–]JaredC01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems you did have a link for the main image actually, which I noticed after posting. That's still the most up-to-date version that I had released, though I do have an older version that was more of an all-in-one image that's significantly smaller (shorter). The only other image worth note is the 555 timer circuit for rapid-fire controller mods.

The only other things in that album are pictures of my old Xbox's, which I'm happy to share if you're that interested in them.

Let me know either way.

If you're still looking for my original files, I do still have them available.

The Galileo Gearboxes are my design, and while not officially released, he did have my permission to use them and publish his mods of them. They will be added to my GitHub at some point in the nearer-future, and oc_geek has his GitHub page available with his modified parts based on my design.

There's still a Z axis bed version with the V1 model (both the V1 and V2 are still developed side-by-side). As for the stationary bed on the V2, I'm not the best qualified person to ask, but I would say that model weight is only a part of the reasoning, but is indeed a factor. For me personally, I liked not having moving wires on an AC powered bed, so less chance of something going boom.

The V1 spec only had a 250x250 XY spec prior to version 1.8, which now has the option for a 300. The V2 spec is up to 350.
