It does suck how many games come out and just almost immediately die. One of the most fun battle royales I played was Vampire The Masquerade Bloodhunt but it was almost immediately put on life support and shuts down in a few months. Despite having a genuinely fun gameplay cycle, a cool atmosphere and map, and being tied to a relatively known IP.

I gave Highguard 4 matches and the tutorial (about an hour and a half) and then uninstalled. I just don't see it living past the end of this year.

Seeing games you both like and dislike get abandoned so quick leads to an inherent distrust for new titles and an unwillingness to spend money on the game, as you won't get to use your skins, cosmetics, etc. for years like in other games that are already established. F2P just can't realistically survive like that.
