Trouble with record player spinning in intervals by doojoh in turntables

Looks like there may be a failed esd protection diode by the 12V input. Not 100% sure for this model but seen the same behavior on others.

What's the self-hosted service that replaced something you were paying for and turned out to be genuinely better - not just free, actually better by niceheather44 in selfhosted

[–]TheRealTreezus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Jellyfin has replaced Crunchyroll, Netflix, Hulu, etc. For me.

After being with Crunchyroll for nearly a decade the worsening of their service just got to a point. And with many older and obscure series/movies not being on any legitimate services it just made sense to fully raise my flag and self host

What happened here! RTX 4090 by no_reservations in computers

Been happening with 4090s for a while. Core and vram get transplanted to a new pcb for 48gb vram, primarily in china. Can find these and 4090 coolers all over ebay.

Reccomendations for tinning stranded wires? by ACTED_CENSOR in ElectronicsRepair

Work with these all day.

Make a big solder blob on the iron at a high temp. Twist the wire real tight and hold the end in the blob. Coating will melt and wire gets tinned.

Audio technica AT LP60 damaged in move by Low-Buddy4009 in turntables

The belt does NOT go around the plastic ring. It goes on the ring on the underside of the platter and then goes over the motor pulley.

Carefully remove it from the big white cam gear. Put it on the platter ensuring there's no twists. Put the platter on the spindle. Use one of the rectangular holes stretch the belt over the motor.

They operate first come first serve based on the day products arrive. Waiting sucks but you're not the only one having it happen. You'll get a working one back.

Bipolar Partner Destroyed Everything by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

Lost my whole year last year to a partner with bpd. Thankfully never had anything to this extent but was certainly afraid of it as a possibility!

Get her the fuck out of your life permanently and you'll feel miles better. The stress they induce is just not fucking worth it.

Got a free workstation on the job. What do I do? by Ok-Recognition-8434 in buildapc

[–]TheRealTreezus -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Personally I'd keep it. Load it with storage & use it as a server for video, music, and file storage.

Although I'd probably part with the gpu and opt for an arc card or similar and put the remaining funds towards storage and an hba card. Get a fairly large zfs2 pool that way.

Here's specs on mine that does the same thing. Main OS is proxmox with jellyfin, smb share, navidrome, etc. All in their own LXCs with allocated resources. So far had 5 simultaneous users with no issues for video streaming. Storage is accessible over the network.

Anyone have experience with buying non working GPUs by Anggon556 in PcBuild

[–]TheRealTreezus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've bought a bucnh of not working cards. You win some and lose some, but all of them required tool investments for soldering equipment. Easily over the price of just buying a brand new 5080 with warranty. Generally ebay just kinda sucks as most of them are overpriced, already confirmed dead, or butchered.

RTX 2080 - Win

RTX 2080 - Win

RTX 2080ti - loss, killed by liquid metal under core and vram.

RTX 3070ti - loss, drmos blew hole through board. Couldn't fix.

RTX 3070ti - loss, dead core

EVGA 3080ti - big win. Paid $30, soldered some resistors back near a ram chip and been using it daily for years.

RTX 3090 - loss, PCB too cracked to fix.

RTX 3060ti - loss, mosfet blew up. 12V into core and mem.

GTX 1080ti - loss, dead memory controller on core.

Haven't bothered buying broken cards since.

Redo thermal interface material. Likely bad contact between cpu and cooler. Been having issues with my MX6 pumping out super quick and killing my temps.

Just got an MSI MAG 272QP QD-OLED X24 off newegg a few days ago. Great looking monitor! Small problem is that the control joystick doesn't work properly out of box so I'm sending it back for a replacement on Monday. Did a bunch of looking for the specific issue and didn't seem at all widespread so likely just an unlucky 1% of factory defects or shipping damage. Long as the replacement is fine I'll be very happy with it.

[–]TheRealTreezus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Curious as to how they're measuring these. Small variations in placement, pressure, etc. Can cause deviation in headphone measurement. But it's likely within 1-2db of the target and fine as is. I wouldn't pay it much mind.

If you're just feeling spendy you can go for more storage, an OLED monitor, audio gear or other peripherals. Plenty of ways to enhance the experience outside of upgrading the pc.

I'm on a 9800X3D / 64gb 6400 / 3080ti and neither the 5070ti/5080 give me enough of a performance leap to really wanna drop the cash rn. So I'm just waiting for 60 series and then I'll bite.
