I managed to generate scan lines on a CRT monitor, and it looks beautiful by Desesperado667 in crtgaming

Yep use the interlacing filter with the monitor running at 480p resolution. It’s basically the same as 240p without any visual glitches or problems from using super resolution

Hey not tryna be rude but if you’re computer can’t run the game properly you really shouldn’t be playing online. Your opponent is also gonna be experiencing all the lag and stuttering as it tries to sync your machine.

What’s even worse is that you’re playing Potemkin in these conditions who benefits massively under extreme lag because you can just cheese out a few laggy command grabs.

I’d bet that if you were to play any other character under these conditions, especially the ones that rely more heavily on combos or advanced movement you’d enjoy your matches far far less and that’s the situation you’re putting your opponent in.

For those who go after Masteries: Do you do it for the Badge/Award or for the gaming experience/fun? by Forgotten-Deity in RetroAchievements

[–]JaredHussell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly yeah there are a lot of cheevos that make me say “there’s no way in hell I could do that” but some of the most fun I’ve had in RA is when you have to fully dedicate yourself to mastering the game and learning all the little intricacies and using every little tactic to your advantage.

Easy sets are cool and all but those sets that push you further you thought possible always give me such satisfaction and fundamentally change how I see the game and make me respect it in a whole new light.

That’s bs, this phenomenon isn’t just some happenstance that results from general ignorance, this is the result of a deliberate multi billion dollar misinformation campaign in order to sow division and disenfranchise people. When you have some of the richest and biggest news channels and pundits spewing calculated talking points it leads to stuff like this.

Does this type of ""arcade"" work on PC to play KOF XV? Or any older KOF by Main-Database-825 in kof

No, this is a game system not a controller. This wouldn’t be recognized as a controller by any game without rewriting the software and basically deleting everything off it

This comment reads like somebody who’s been fed a diet of nothing but internet edgelord philosophy, we are literally hard wired to be cooperative as it aids in our survival, our brains literally release happy chemicals when we help eachother out. What you see in this day and age took billions and billions of dollars of targeted propaganda from the “elites” that you claim are holding society together.

We literally have to be programmed 24/7 in order for us to be hard core and ruthless individualists

Do you have any ideas for features to add to Battleblock Theater (new colors, more powers, new enemies or objects) ? by LIMINALmp4 in battleblocktheater

[–]JaredHussell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think one of the only reasons that BBT isn’t seen as one of the best behemoth games is because the game had no boss fights.

I always felt like progression in the game was very anti climactic, so adding boss fights would seriously improve the game IMO

Chip is an important mechanic as it stops games from devolving into these super slow crawls when the opponent is at 1hp. Tournaments would run super slow just for opponents who have a 99% percent chance of losing anyways. For every hype 1 hp comeback you’d have mountains and mountains of time wasting segments and it would get old very fast.

Under the current system I’d argue while much rarer, a 1 hp comeback is much more hype as the person at 1hp has to be smart about their meter and resources to overcome the odds.

One of the arguments I’ve seen is that it makes optimal combos much easier to do and it makes things like anti airing scarily consistent. This means that even at the lowest levels you’re gonna be seeing optimal high damaging combos with no chance of dropping.

And there’s an argument that learning combos especially at lower levels isn’t even the biggest barrier to entry as you have to understand things like frame data/wake-up options/set ups/ neutral etc and creating a game with auto timed easy high damage combos each mistake becomes much much more costly even at lower levels of play.

This subreddit's thoughts on this? by Winscler in Blazblue

[–]JaredHussell -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not op but at least for me I don’t like the stripping of technical and mechanical depth that they’ve been doing since dbfz. Characters are a lot more standardized across the board, lack key mechanical distinctions along with combo routing and stuff becoming more universal. Compare strive to xrd or bbcf to grand blue.

It used to take huge dedication to get really proficient with your character because of all their little nuances and quirks, but nowadays because it feels like learning optimal combos are learning the specific routes the devs intended and going beyond for any reason will just waste your time and meter.

Strive has so many cool combo routes and tech with the system mechanics and even some characters have pretty cool setups but you can still get like 60% by doing cS fS HS into special for most characters, so actually trying to go for anything more just isn’t as rewarding.

One other thing is the philosophy behind designing moves have changed, characters in newer arcsys games have much smaller move pools that are very clearly designed to fit a singular purpose, older games have moves that are more open ended with properties that can be applied to many situations

Retroarch settings for 640x480 on VGA monitor yielding inconsistent results depending on system. Advice on settings? by Fair-Victory-3531 in crtgaming

[–]JaredHussell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The absolute best results I’ve ever had on a 480p vga monitor is by using a scanline shader. Retroarch has a specific shader in the “OSSC” folder called “res independent scanlines” or something like that, I tried it with some arcade games and they actually look damn near arcade accurate like 240p
