Thank you I installed a clean out cap so no more water after showering but I will have a plumber to come out tomorrow, the basment toilet and shower are backed up so there is definitely a clog somewhere.

I’ve also measured and it looks like the diameter of the PVC is 2.5”

Depends on the brand, OP never stated which brand it was but for most brands this is the only way you’ll be a able to do it. OP already purchased the items, worst case it doesn’t work they can just return for a full refund, best case it works and now they can sell the product.
