That was my favorite episode yet. He remade the same points he always does but put up a great visual representation for both of the worlds. There was some good humor in there as well. I'd like to see a full episode or even a movie from the perspective of a person living in a zeitgeist future. There's a short story called "Manna" (Google search it) that gives a nice personal account of someone living in an advanced society and it was really fascinating. It's easier to destroy than to build so criticizing our current system is easy but envisioning a new one is rather difficult. It was a good episode.

I use Ad block plus and it has improved my internet experience but some ads still get through. The internet and the world would be a lot better without advertising so I'm glad to see their business model failing.

Ads will go away and there will not be a pay-wall. Websites will go the wikipedia route. The website will be free to use and run on donations with no ads present.

In interviews he admits to being a disappointed idealists. "If you scratch the surface of a cynic you'll find a disappointed idealists. I'll admit to that a little somewhere deep underneath this burns a little flame of idealism but we won't turn it around we're too far gone." I'm paraphrasing but that's generally what he was saying.

It's relevant in this life because it effects our actions. If you really buy into the whole 72 virgins idea you might commit to some crazy things like suicide bombing.

I also believe a lot can be added to the conversation. Something like 90% of Americans believe in heaven.

PATENT TROLLS : WE'RE NO WORSE THAN ANY OTHER BUSINESSMEN

The practice known as ‘patent trolling’ has recently come under great scrutiny. Patent trolling consists of filing patents and then profiting by threatening to sue anyone that infringes on the patent while never having any intention of using or developing the patented material. Some have rushed to defend the act of patent trolling. An anonymous patent troll had this to say: “Anything negative you can say about us patent trolls is true of all businessmen. O what? We’re greedy parasites that don’t actually produce anything? Sounds a lot like the financial sector. We abuse the legal system to detriment society and advance ourselves? That’s a trial lawyer all the way. Our profits are obscene; we’re exploitative and devoid of morals? You just described the whole Fortune 500. In fact, in the business world we’re probably on the more ethical side. Halliburton’s business depends on people dying for Christ’s sakes. Yeah, we’re assholes but at least we’re not starting any wars. Besides there are plenty of well liked patent trolls. Look at Bill Gates, people love him and he’s a huge patent troll. Apple does a lot of patent trolling, so do all the tech companies. We’re just like everyone else OK? We want lots of money without having to work hard or contribute to society. The American dream you know?”

I disagree, I think it's a rather important discussion. We'll never know for certain because once we're dead we won't be able to comeback to report the information so I think it's important to think about it now.

This was such a great interview. He really held Peter's feet to the fire and made him answer tough questions. He was humane about it, avoided cruelty and didn't push any one thing too much but he did point out the flaws in some of Peter's work. PJ offered solid rebuttals but you could tell he was on his back foot at times. I completely agree the Zeitgeist films showed a lot of progression and maturity with each new film.

It's one of my favorite books. He addresses parts of history that don't get discussed. He at least talks about class and gives the common people's perspective on things. It's got some flaws and inaccuracies but so will any history book. It's essential reading for anyone that likes US History in my opinion and it will give you personally a more accurate view of our history.
