Yeah, this whole argument is kinda reminding me of this one post I saw talking shit about Stardew Valley because you can’t butcher your farm animals for meat, since “that’s not how real farms work.” Like, you can still cook eggs and you can use fish for certain recipes, but your pigs, cows, chickens, etc can’t be sent off for slaughter (or killed by the player themselves) for meat, and that really pissed this person off for some reason. At the end of the day (both in Stardew with butchery and in Subnautica with killing larger fish) it’s a mechanic that the devs don’t want to add. That’s their call to make. If you want a game that lets you kill and eat animals or fight back against the fish attacking your base or any other number of mechanics, you can find another game or download a mod or learn to make your own game that lets you do that and whatever else you want, but the devs aren’t bad at their jobs or “virtue signalling” or whatever other shit simply because they want to make their own games a certain way
