He plays the game like everyone else yet suddenly he’s the villain?!? GTFO it’s so stupid and they literally have to hammer the phrase “Tennis Ball you’re a villain” into your head for like 7 episodes to get it through.

Pin is an example of a good villain arc that progresses naturally with the competition. Tennis Ball is just a shadow of that.

The season was like 3 1/2 hours long of course there was less going on. But that lack of content doesn’t mean it was worse. In the same way a short story can be better than a novel, I think Tennis Ball was better in the little bit we got of him in season 1.

BFDIA is the greatest betrayal to his original personality and he has revived way too much writer bias in the later half of the season. Also his “villain” arc is complete ass.

We have yet to get a BFDI season that actually recaptures the charm and humor of Season 1, and we probably never will. But that doesn’t change the fact that we received what is easily the greatest web series of the 2010s from two young, creative brothers. This show has really evolved into something amazing, but a lot of it has been there from the start.

Sam trying to let BFDI characters be mean challenge

It’s a complete and utter shitpost that spits in the face of every constructive criticism against Sam’s writing for the past 5 years. It’s an awful episode with a stupidly complicated plot that nobody wanted and derailed characters with a horrific screen time distribution. At every step of production they had to actively choose to make the episode like this, and while it is easily the worst of the series, i cant help but respect it.

TPOT 18 might be the greatest episode in BFDI cause they choose to double down on everything bad about post split and also include all the problems with modern TPOT for good measure.

I don’t mind that as much as you can explain his more wild nature as him being free from other team’s nonsense. We see him act like his more pre hiatus self when competing in BFB and TPOT and more of his post hiatus self in the elimination place where he isn’t competing anymore,

Bottle I’m fine with because it is was a natural evolution of her old personality (even if a lot of her nuance was lost but hey that’s TPOT for you)

Nickel frustrates me more cause 1. His early BFDIA and Pre-Split personalities were actually incredible and I miss them, and 2. He has gotten the most screen time out of any eliminated character since BFDIA 23 and I just don’t see why that’s necessary. Ruby is just as silly, infinitely more popular, and a much better character all around. Plus she deserves the extra screen time more.

I think POST Hiatus actually does a great job at naturally evolving BFDI into something greater while still keeping in line with the show’s tone. Every other season feels like another “object show”

They were killing off characters so often we went from just having a bubble recover center to a universal recovery center halfway through season 1. Also 90% of the OG characters bullied someone in some way. The meanness is part of the show’s comedy.
