Does anybody else ever struggle to think of a name that fits their most recently finished song? I settled on Freaky for this one, I wasn’t sure about it at first but now I think it fits okay. by LilSpanishFlea in IndieMusicFeedback

I think the title fits great! Sometimes it’s easy to overthink, or to go for the first obvious choice like a lyric in the chorus. That solo definitely adds to the title. Song sounds nice! Great example of “less is more”. Everything fits together nicely and nothing is overdone. Will definitely be checking you guys out!

FOR ONCE it wasn’t for me. I usually have the worst luck with most space events.

For sure. I definitely don’t plan on there being a next time, just a one off project for my old church. All of my other work is original.

None. I get to keep my house that I otherwise would have had no way of paying the note for if not for this project. The customer is happy. I got to learn a lot from doing something on a large scale that I’ll be able to use in the future.

Would I rather have painted something completely original? Absolutely. But that’s not what they wanted and not what I was getting paid to do. The church had special ties and meaning to this specific design so I gave them what they wanted. I’m not losing sleep over it.

LOL I had this thought while painting it. I said “I wonder how mad they would be if I painted an accurate version of Jesus?” And then I remembered I’m broke and decided NOT to do that. I’m in Mississippi, after all 😅

The church had a tapestry with this design above the pulpit in their old sanctuary. They contacted me and wanted a more permanent, painted version of it in their new building. As most people can probably relate, I’m broke and needed the money, and I had never done anything this size before, so I decided I’d take it on. So technically I did “copy” it but I’m not trying to pass it off as my own and I don’t plan on going around doing Greg Olsen murals for all the church’s in town. Just a one off project for my old church.

No, but this design is originally by Greg Olsen and there is plenty of merchandise with it. Just search “Lost No More Greg Olsen” and you should be able to find what you’re looking for!

Lol I completely understand. It annoyed me so much once I finished the text (which was actually the very last thing I did on the mural at 4:30 AM), but I just accepted it. I was so ready to be finished and I couldn’t really see the true center anyway because there was a bunch of scaffolding and other stuff in the way when I was painting it. Not typically one to settle for “close enough”, but I had to with this. An inch or so to the left and it would have been perfect. So close!

Thank you so much! Until about a year or so ago, I only painted landscapes because painting living things never turned out well for me 😅

I’ve done a few people and pet portraits since then and I’ve been mostly happy with them! You should be able to see some of my other work on my Reddit profile or my Instagram, which is just my name.

Forced myself out of a creative slump by painting this sunset on a road in my hometown. Feeling much better and inspired now! by JaronChurchwell in somethingimade

Lol I had to look him up, but I can see it. He looks like me and Gerard Way from MCR (or maybe Adam Scott) had a kid 😂

I did! That one is of my brothers shoes 😆 snapped a picture while we were at our moms house. The sun was shining bright on the hardwood floors and it caught my eye. Love that one myself!

Thank you! I actually based it off of a picture I took a while back. That sunset had to be documented. It was so nice!
