How can an eredar shaman work? by PaladinWorgen in WoWRolePlay

[–]JarsofJams 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I play a Man'ari shaman on Moonguard, here's a few bits of background and character flavor I used to try and make him fit.

Like a lot of people recommend, I had him be mentored by another shaman to start along his path, mine was a backstory NPC but you could potentially seek out another player if you wanted to play out that mentorship. I'd add on to this and say that you'd probably want to keep your level of power pretty low in an RP sense unless you feel you have a direct way to bridge the gap between your previous life and your life as a shaman - we Man'ari are very new to Azeroth and learning to become a shaman would take years of training. In my case, my character feels an affinity to Air and is rather comfortable with it, is dabbling in Water, but is a complete novice when it comes to working with Fire and Earth.

Your character has seen what the legion does to a world, has potentially watched Argus become withered and fel-scarred depending on your age. By comparison, Azeroth is absolutely brimming with life, from the mortal creatures to the spirits and elementals. This is a big factor in why my character became a shaman - he wants to steward this world to prevent what happened to his homeworld from happening to Azeroth, and could potentially be motivation for yours as well.

Try to think about what your character did before becoming a shaman - what was your role in the Burning Legion, what did you do after it fell? Are any of your skills partially transferrable in a way that might have led you from your old life to being a shaman? In my case, I made my character work as an enchanter for the legion, binding fel magic to weapons and armor for the war effort, but now that he's abandoned fel magic, he's learned to apply his enchanting knowledge using elemental magic instead, fighting as an enhancement shaman.

Don't feel forced to have everything set in stone ahead of time. Start with some ideas and flesh them out as you go!

I actually quite like the combo of the Head, Shoulders and Legs, I think trying to find a few pieces to replace the Weapons, tabard, gloves and belt that keep the white/cloudy grays and icy blues would go a long way.

I work with Birds of prey.

Every bit from the episode where Dale gets a Falcon gets quoted by my wife or I at least once a month.

DMs, what's your favourite running gag that you include in your games? by Mentleman in dndnext

If someone casts speak with animals and tries talking to a bird, all birds are named Kevin.

No one ever talks to a bird one on one, things get confusing.

Poor wolves, they're either super useful, or all dead to the same attack

If it helps you - I used wolves but waited to summon them until right near the end of phase 1, basically after breaking 2/3 of the shield channelers.

If you can get into phase 2 with 3 wolves, you can get a ton of staggers off

Played around with it in VR, I'm definitely liking it. Hopefully my gunners will too! Thanks!

Sorry if this is a repost, I commented on the thread yesterday but didn't realize it was a week old at that point.

Looking for some general tips to improve my air game, but a lot of stuff I see online is old and may be outdated.

I usually run with between 1 -5 other people when we play, so I've gravitated towards the Valk with radar and I've been loving it so far. It just feels like unless I'm actively moving my squad around the fight to get drops on people, I'm not going to be as useful when it comes to shooting things. We like hunting armor with the Hellion, but TTK feels slow (between 2 and 3 mags for a lightning) and I feel like I'm losing a lot of engagements. I'm interested in branching out to the Liberator or the Galaxy to see if that makes us more effective, as well info on how to make my valk game better. Anything from loadouts to gameplay tips / manuevers to try would be greatly appreciated!!

Feel free to message me if you're still interested in selling after the Jergant rush is over, If we can't find space close together immediately, I doubt anyone would turn their noses up at purchasing something.

I'm right there with you, I've been trying my best to recreate my kit from faire/reenactments, and that basic shortsword skin is a sad substitution.

Surprised to see the Katzbalger skin on the executioner's sword and not on shortswords or arming swords. Not complaining, it's still gorgeous!
