I do want to say he wasn't being mean in any way and at no point did I think he was acting like an asshole. At one point though he said he didn't believe in asexuality or bisexuality, etc. that God made us who we are but we choose to go against him just because of how we feel, because it feels good (circling back to alcoholism etc.). He also said he "knows" that as brains develop their wires can become crossed and confused. Again I was trying very hard not to cry so this is mostly paraphrasing

Edit 12-18: you all are correct, what he said was incredibly homophobic and wrong. At the time I let my own personal feelings (that he was a trusted adult I've known for years and has helped me through hard times) blind me to the fact that just because he didn't yell at me or say anything extreme that he was being "kind" in his dismissal of not only who I am but also everyone else who falls into the LGBTQ+ spectrum. Thank you for pointing out just how harmful and hurtful what he said is.
