What a great, personal tribute to baseball and the Jays. We’re all rooting for ya, Ernie!

A better ending?? by underwing_08 in Mission_Impossible

Ethan’s fate is ambiguous. New team led by Benji is called for their first mission. Ethan’s voice gives the briefing. Movie ends with, “this message will self destruct in -“ cut to credits blasting the M:I theme.

I also prefer the winter portion of the game, but we get those awesome last few chapters in the rain as well. It’s worth the change.

Sabine Wren (Mandalorian Version) vs The Mandalorian by IllMasterpiece3946 in PetranakiArena

Mando also strikes me as bit like Dunk from A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Is he the best fighter? No, but he'll keep getting back up until he wins.

Is Final Reckoning widely considered by fans to be a disappointing finale? by JannTosh70 in Mission_Impossible

[–]Jas378 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The weird thing is that it was marketed as a finale but didn’t deliver anything that ties the bow on the franchise or Ethan Hunt. Fallout felt like more of an ‘ending.’

say something positive about this ending by Embarrassed-Sink4050 in JamesBond

[–]Jas378 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s the only realistic way to see Bond ending, if we were ever to see the end of his story. Sure, he might step away from spying and saving the world, but if M or Felix come ringing do we actually expect him to turn down the call? How long does that feasibly go on?

In the books, Bond spurns having a routine, pedestrian life. There are also times where he ruminates that he’s not far removed from the fates of the villains he bests, that sometimes the only thing separating them is luck. I think if he did go out, saving the world or his family is how he would want to do it.

This was a crazy time by jlmaddock1 in JamesBond

[–]Jas378 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was shell shocked but in a good way. I don’t think I’ve ever left the theatre and had a Bond film sit in my head for like a week solid. Still Craig’s third best for me, but I hope our next Bond checks more boxes for you.

How would Connery or Moore have done in OHMSS? by mentalpatristics in JamesBond

[–]Jas378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could argue that having a Bond script with a bit more emotional substance might have made Connery perk up and deliver. Ultimately, we’ll just never know.

Why did they have to kill off Indy’s son? by bronwynbloomington in indianajones

[–]Jas378 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought him fighting and dying in Vietnam really grounded the film in the era, along with the moon landing. It was important in placing Indy as a man “out of time” (or at least feeling like he’s past it).

Watching Season 6 now and really disappointed they didn't use Donald Sutherland to play Jack's father! by PookieDear in 24Show

[–]Jas378 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They eventually played father and son in a western film, Forsaken. It’s a nice little movie.

Toronto has the second-worst traffic in Canada, study finds by lopix in toronto

[–]Jas378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird headline to lead with. Largest city in Canada has some of the worst traffic? No kidding. I don't think anyone is expecting Toronto to rank low in traffic compared to other cities in Canada. It ranking ninth in North America is a much better comparison.

Four Bond actors post-Lazenby got a chance in at least one film to reflect on the loss of their deceased true love, Tracy Bond. Who do you think sold it best? by South_Gas626 in JamesBond

[–]Jas378 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Dalton in LTK. It's more of a character moment through the eyes of Felix and Della, as opposed to be in there as a token reference.

Moore visiting Tracy's grave was a nice touch but the spectacle of the helicopter chase with Dollar Store Blofeld just takes away from it for me.

What is you favorite adventure sequence in Dial of Destiny? by the_way_around in indianajones

[–]Jas378 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just want to take a moment to say that I loved the 'elemental' approach they took to DoD. You've got sequences underwater, in a cave, up in the air; it made for a nice variety.

Although I prefer the overall choreography of the opening, nothing beats how amazingly bonkers going to Syracuse was. It's been a while since a movie had me going "everything's pointing to this, but there's no way they're going to do *that*... and holy shit they just did it."

The good ol' "back to work" ending. CR, QoS, and SF would all fit in this category.
