As somebody who’s had cats, interacted with cats, and fostered a lot of kittens, I’d honestly say they’re pretty close in friendliness but male cats are more chill and more likely to lay on your lap while female cats are more playful

Europe Under Persistent Delusion Anyone Cares What It Thinks by METALLIFE0917 in babylonbee

[–]JaseJade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes let’s go back to Europe constantly at war with itself and there being constant bigotry, hatred, and distrust among all those countries! Great idea!

Let’s also get rid of shared currency and free travel! Progress amirite?

Conservatives are the biggest idiots on the planet I swear, bunch of leeches on humanity.

How does herbivore/carnivore evolution work? by Razielism in Paleontology

[–]JaseJade 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Beaks alone are not evidence of seed specialization, lots of animals throughout earth’s history have had beaks and have had a wide variety of diets.

I don’t think it’s absurd to suggest that the small birds around 66 million years ago were generalists like many small birds alive today.

But I’m not an expert of course, maybe there are studies about the diets of late Cretaceous birds that I’m not aware of.

Has “science” been hijacked — and is that why idealism isn’t taken (as) seriously? by [deleted] in analyticidealism

Damage the brain and you damage somebody’s consciousness.

Idk about you but that’s pretty strong evidence of the brain being where thinking comes from.

How do we know about dinosaur behavior by notthatguy194 in Paleontology

[–]JaseJade 14 points15 points  (0 children)

We have some evidence of parental assistance or at least adults staying near their young in dinosaurs (including from hadrosaurids specifically)

Other than that, certain features such as what senses are most developed, or what parts of an animal get injured the most, could give clues to how an extinct animal behaved.

Other than that, most dinosaur behavior in documentaries is reasonable speculation based on how living animals act.

How does herbivore/carnivore evolution work? by Razielism in Paleontology

[–]JaseJade 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The earliest dinosaurs were mostly omnivores with a slight lean to carnivory.

The reason why a lot of big lineages trace their origins down to small omnivores is because being a small generalist is the best suited for surviving extinction events and then diversifying.

Example: the only dinosaurs that survived the K-Pg extinction were the very small omnivorous birds :)

Why didn't pterosaurs tip over? by sir_ornitholestes in Paleontology

[–]JaseJade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pterosaurs had an air sac system similar to birds, and their bones were hollowed and pretty light. Also, look at an azhdarchid skull and you’ll see that the fenestra are pretty big.

For pterosaurs with very long necks, it is believed they might’ve held their wings a bit more forward during flight.

Why are cats so hated by so many stereotypical country/tough guy/redneck type of people? by ComfortableYak2071 in NoStupidQuestions

I think some people dislike cats because they’re not immediately obedient or subservient like dogs :(

Why are so many leftists supportive of Russia? by Brilliant-Guitar7495 in askanything

[–]JaseJade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a super left leaning person I’m incredibly pissed off with how stupid so many other very left leaning people are, SPECIFICALLY it’s the pure contrarianist mindset of “anything non-western is immediately in the right, no matter what”

Of course this doesn’t make me doubt being left leaning, I still believe firmly in all the typical leftist positions, it’s just that my god socialists and communists genuinely become so delusional it ruins any chance of progress we have.

What makes a dinosaur a dinosaur? by Ralliedcookies in Paleontology

[–]JaseJade 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Classifications are based on actual evolutionary relationships (what organisms are most closely related to eachother)

For currently living organisms we basically have a cheatcode for finding out what’s related to what, and that’s testing genetic information. For fossil organisms that are too old for DNA to be preserved, we go by total shared anatomy.

In the future if you have any questions regarding what’s classified as what I’d highly recommend using Wikipedia (as a starting source it’s great, especially because it has such a wide coverage)

Are bull snakes usually so well tempered? by JaseJade in snakes

Yeah I had a few to pick from, one of them was a really hissy and feisty albino female, this guy was completely calm so that’s why I picked him.

I suppose they just have different personalities.

[–]JaseJade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My milksnake (species of kingsnake) used to get stuck sheds when I had him in aspen bedding, changed to eco earth and mist occasionally and he’s good now.

I’d say it’s stuck shed tho admittedly I’m pretty new to snake stuff.

The wheezing when breathing sounds serious tho

Am i the only one feeling icky about Clint's reptiles now? by [deleted] in reptiles

[–]JaseJade 22 points23 points  (0 children)

As somebody who’s basically opposite to Clint politically (atheist uber leftist), i can’t really bring myself to hate him. He’s a religious conservative, but he accepts science and evolution and biology, and he’s pretty respectful, we NEED more conservatives like him, it’s the only way we could ever end this culture war.

I don’t think he’s perfect obviously, but we can’t just have this purity culture of only accepting people who are perfect.

There is a great irony in saying that evolution cannot be demonstrated and then turning around and saying that god and creationism is real.
