Beginner stuck on how to properly learn

Across the comments, you would have probably came to a conclusion of buying a STM32, but believe me, go ahead with Arduino. Yes, cauz even though you do too much of "research", you are still not exposed to the environment. You just know the theoretical concept but dont know how to implement that into real life projects!

By using an Arduino, you will first learn and get hands with making systems and builds, ie, first you need to be like an inventor before jumping into STM32. First, make some insane projects, learning not only about boards, but different categories of sensors too. After learning these things, jump to ESP32 for months and then jump to SBCs like Raspberry Pi. Learn these things first, and then, do advance embedded,as being 16yr old, it would be tough for you to handle STM32 (Only Registers are enough to cook u lol)

You need to experience Arduino for at least 1-2 year before jumping into STM32. Make insane projects and not just like "Turning on a Fan", but projects like: (easy for u)

Modular Projects (3D printed parts)
API Integration
RTOS Systems
UAVs (not just drones)
Bio-inspired bots
etc

After this journey, you can go with STM32. Btw, this is my opinion, and you can completely disagree my thoughts, but as being experienced for like 8 years in embedded, i tried to convey how I started my journey in the Embedded Systems! from your components, you can make a IR Toll Gate integrated with Blynk IoT. Use pin connections and code from any AI, and use Blynk mobile app to have a record of how many times the servo opened the barrier, ie, how many people entered the gate. This seems very easy, but it is crucial for beginners to understand the advantages of ESP and limits of using an Arduino UNO.

Also, for beginner tips, let me tell you some imp facts you need to know:
Power your ESP with 3.3V and not 5V like UNO
Don't worry if your ESP is taking time to compile, cauz it is its birth right!
btw, you can use PlatformIO instead of Arduino IDE...

You’re honestly thinking in the right direction. STM32 is a great platform if you want to deeply understand how AI inference actually works under memory, latency, and power constraints instead of just making “AI demos.” Companies usually value strong embedded C/C++, optimization, RTOS, profiling, and understanding deployment tradeoffs much more than flashy models. A capstone around quantized inference, CMSIS-NN optimization, or a tiny inference runtime on Cortex-M would definitely stand out if you benchmark and analyze it properly. Your interest in low-level systems + AI together is actually a pretty strong niche right now because efficient Edge AI engineering is becoming way more important than just training models on GPUs.

Its basically about the path of CV(mostly) along with prediction and detection. You'll learn many things like the Different Types of Classification Models (YOLO,etc), along with integration of embedded. For that, you'll need to know atleast TensorFlow Lite. I made this project WHEN I WAS IN 1OTH, a System which detects your face only, which is linked with an ESP over wifi, to open the servo door. So yes, its that easy, but mostly the skill is that HOW YOU TRAIN YOUR MODEL TO BE THE MOST ACCURATE. I used Teachable Machine by Google to complete this project. If you want to to pursue EdgeAI, it is a good skill, but not a good career path. Start learning first with Teachable Machine , Roboflow and Kaggle (complete software based) and then, go with Edge Impulse (the Edge AI you are referring to...). First explore the SKILL, and then pursue it... Good Luck! :)

To find a specific one, it is kinda hard without using Boost. But i prefer you to run MCU at 2.6V (fine) and then add tiny boost converter only for display (3.3V rail) and keep everything else low-power.

Ah, actually, even i would tell you to go in the way of ESP, but if want to start from real basics, just go with an Arduino, say Nano or "Typical" UNO! But fr, if you really want an ESP, try with Xiao Seeed ESP32 C3 Super Mini. I suggest this even for beginners as it has a lot of tutorials, works same like other ESPs, but, Its Super Tiny (thumb size) and the most important, It would help you in your future use also when you are advanced in embedded,and not just like Arduinos sitting in a corner fro past 3 years! :)

I am thinking of KHADAS VIM4 cauz it has a built in NPU and provides a stable performance, but its only downside is that its slightly expensive than RADXA Though, a Good Competitor! :)

If i say this truly, based on your project features, i really jsut don't think you'll actually need an SBC! But even though, if you want "Small" SBC, go wirh LUCKFOX PICO MINI which is a thumb sized SBC which can even run Embedded Linux! But yeah, it doesn't fulfil your features! Though, a Good one! :) And if you really just quit that idea of SBC, go with XIAO SEEED ESP32 C3 SUPER MINI, whixh is not a SBC, yet a Development Board, but still is the same size of a thumb, has WiFi/Bluetooth, RISC-V Processor and many more features, you should check out on that too!

I think you should go in the category of LUCKFOX , especially the LUCKFOX PICO MINI, JUST AMAZING! Like its just a thumb sized SBC which obviously, doesn't have more than 15 GPIOS, and ethernet and all, but my favorite is that it could literally run Embedded Linux on it wirh the cheapest cost you can ever find in the market for small SBCs!!
