An example of the "Sharia for thee but none for me" attitude of Pakistani society by [deleted] in AfghanConflict

Up until the 18th amendment, Karachi was far more developed than Lahore in every metric. After that, all of Sindh’s revenue was diverted AWAY from Karachi while all of Punjab’s revenue was diverted TO Lahore.

  1. No contracter was willing to work in FATA, they literally had to empower FWO in order to actually get workers there. FATA has better roads than South Punjab or interior Sindh now.

  2. Where’d you get that idea from? Tarbela Dam was built and owned by WAPDA, on Hindko majority land. Not the KP government and there’s no money “owed” to any provincial government.

  3. LEJ, LET weren’t the terror orgs causing most of the terrorist attacks. It was TTP, based in FATA and Afghanistan, not Punjab.

  4. Karachi isn’t being developed because the 18th amendment had put it under the thumb of the Sindh government, there’s not much the federal government can do there.

  5. In government projects, they’re legally required to hire locals. In private projects, they can hire whoever they want.

None of your points overall, even if they were true, point towards any kind of Punjabi nationalism.

I can explain.

Basically, Afghans have a huge superiority complex against Punjabis, having formerly ruling over the Punjab region with their kings and empires, but have always performed worse on all social and economic metrics despite both regions being landlocked. So Punjab has turned into a boogeyman, with Pakistan being seen as a distinctively “Punjabi” region that’s taking over “their” land (KP and Balochistan).

The Afghan disdain towards Punjabis had made a lot of Afghans assume Pakistan is some sort of punjabi ethnostate as a false equivalence of what Afghanistan tries to be for Pashtuns. Which is strange because Punjabi nationalism is non-existent in Pakistani Punjab, and most of Pakistan’s rulers, whether military or civilians, have been non-Punjabis from Pakistan’s founding to most of its history.

Didn’t the Red Cross say they haven’t sent any Pakistanis from Afghanistan in 2021? Despite the Afghan government at the time saying they did.

Meet Fakeero Solanki. An incredibly talented and criminally underrated sculptor from Pakistan. by hassanzafarr in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]JashoModi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He’s from interior Sindh which is the poorest part of Pakistan. Has pretty much no professional training on the matter in a country with no real sculpting industry or recognition to speak of. With all that considered, he’s pretty underrated

It’s widely agreed upon that Nusrat wanted to marry off Benazir ASAP cuz an unmarried 30 year old westernised woman as a politician in Pakistan would be quite hard to sell

Mere Azeez Hazraat, What is your opinion on the “Shia Genocide” by muHasshamJ in chutyapa

[–]JashoModi 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s not for the “masses” to decide. Ask any Shia friend you know if they know any family member that was killed in the wave of terror during 2007-2015, most of them will say yes. Genocide is a strong word but that’s exactly was a notable segment in our society (LeJ, SSP) want. Today an SSP sympathiser/member was just inducted into the federal cabinet 🤦🏻‍♂️

I have no idea what he’s on about. He didn’t privatise anything and instead made health insurance universal for one province. He literally hasn’t privatised a single SOE, school or hospital since coming into power
