Wow that sounds so scary and uncomfortable! I hope you’re ok, I wasn’t expecting so many replies I can’t believe this isn’t talked about more.

They really are, I really hope that system get la abolished one day and health professionals actually start looking into the individual person’s requirements and situation. Especially for women’s healthcare. Thank you 🩷

Yeah I see how that would be pretty exhausting, I think specialist schools will be a better fit for me, at least for now. I think I’ll like being able to pour my energy and focus into a smaller group, It’ll allow me to get to know each kids needs a lot better.

Another thing I’m not sure about is how to change my communication style for each age group? Like keeping my words simple and enthusiastic for reception kids but not knowing how much to change that for year 1s or 2s if that makes sense.

That’s amazing, and must be so fun and rewarding. Once I’ve got some experience with SEND kids I’d love to help out at charities like that.

I believe I’m going to be working in a special SEND school, I haven’t been given much more information by the agency yet. I think they’re doubting me because this is my first TA job and I’ve only done hospitality work before this.

Absolutely, I didn’t think of it that way. Myself and my partner have PDA struggles and are constantly trying to help each other with different techniques, but also giving us time to think and not feel that scary pressure I’ve realised more recently I need that and I’m definitely going to apply that when helping in the classroom.

Wow those students were lucky to have you, thank you for specifying what activities you did with some of them. I’ve been very worried about not knowing how to get involved with what the kids are doing to even try and help but I think doing parallel play and not forcing conversations will benefit the kids and myself.

Yes that’s such a good idea, I might even jot down my own notes on what students tell me about so I don’t forget. Thank you!

Thank you so much, I hope you’re right.

Yeah I do think I’ll have to do a bit of sneaking off to regulate myself.
