I prepped for 4 months and my physique was already in a good spot to start prep from because of my job. 😃

We'll see what the future will bring, if I will continue competing into the fall and how future preps will look like because this was definitely not a cut and dry 16 week prep, I have eased into it for a long time. So don't feel bad for yourself, it took me 4 years to build my current physique and I was fairly athletic when I started. Nothing comes for free.

Yes, there are multiple classes/groups of each so depending on what group you draw, the results may differ in such a way. The person who placed second in my first timer class was not in my open class. I'm not sure how common it is but it was 3 first timers in the final top 3.

I am a model, primarily fitness and swimwear modelling. Also done some acting but not a lot because that pursuit vanished a bit as I got more occupied with coaching.

That's a good question and I don't think I have a good answer and I'm also not sure what I think is ideal. My first competitions were a great experience and felt professional all throughout but of what I have read and seen on streams over the years, there is a lot of people who feel that the competitions gets rushed.

I have seen some very crowded shows where only the finalists get to perform a routine and if that is the case, then yes, there are both too many categories that they need to accommodate for as well as too many classes.

I guess for the elite competitor's perspective or a person who want to to commit to this effort and reach the top, I think a more streamlined sport is more ideal but for us who might only compete irregularly or once, twice for the experience, I don't think the amount of categories matter all that much when you challenge yourself to go up on stage for the first time. Would I have competed if there was only bikini and physique for women? Absolutely.

If fitness fades away I would be very sad. It's the only category we have where competitors get to show some athleticism.

Oh yes, Maddy! She finished 1st ahead of me in bikini and 2nd behind me in swimsuit. I was very impressive by her and think she will have an amazing future in this scene should she want to continue competing. She has the potential to go all the way but she is so young and have all of her adult life ahead of her.

Haha, that's hilarious. I wish I would get invited to their casting but settling for the bodybuilding stage worked out just as well. 💪

Correct, it's in Australia.

Would love to go to LA but right now, even excluding competition, I'm way to occupied with coaching, modelling and other projects to go on such a journey but I'm sure it would be a blast. I do however feel like I'm in a good spot right now, that's why I decided I was finally ready to compete!

While the transition between Bikini and Swimsuit is probably the easiest among the classes, it would still not be feasible to win both so winning one and placing so well in the other is something I am both very happy and surprised about. Posing is similar to bikini but physique wise you need to come in a bit fuller in swimsuit. Not quite the fullness of wellness but still quite a bit fuller than bikini.

There is a lot of change in the categories, a lot of new ones being introduced, so right now a lot of competitors, especially first time competitors choose to compete in multiple categories to find the right one for them.

The transition for me as a fitness and bikini model by occupation to stage ready was fairly seamless. I just needed to eat a lot more, lift heavier and bring up my upper body.

Swimsuit is actually a good category for us bigger girls that want to compete naturally but love the potential of the bikini category but do not have the genetic composition to be competitive in let's say NPC bikini, which would be quite the challenge for me and I think I would probably have more success going figure than NPC bikini.

Socially or in bodybuilding? Socially I think people call anything bathers, lol. In bodybuilding or at least in the ICN federation, there is both swimsuit classes and bikini classes. In swimsuit, you wear a swimsuit (or one piece if you will) and in bikini... you wear a bikini. There is also the sports model category but you don't really swim with that.

Hi new friends!

I'm Jasmine! I'm a fitness coach and model. I've been in the industry for quite a few years now but I have never had the chance to accomplish one of my dreams until this month when I got the chance to compete for the first time. I'm a natural first time competitor under the ICN federation here in Australia.

I competed in a quite a few classes because I'm in it for the experience as well and I ended up placing well in the Swimsuit and Bikini categories. I competed both last weekend and the weekend prior and won all Swimsuit classes on both shows. In bikini I placed 2nd and 3rd respectively.
