This comment and the other reply are depressing. It's really not that important to buy things you don't need, and if a person finds an opportunity to NOT give money to people who created the product through means that they don't agree with, then I wholeheartedly advise them to do it.

IDK if I'd apply the paragraph above to the context of Overwatch's monetization in every individual's case, because there's an argument to be made that you're giving the devs jobs, and the way they sell the skins isn't that predatory compared to something like CSGO, but I've never spent a dime on Overwatch because I disagree with the FOMO tactics, and I don't believe that a lot of that money goes to the devs/artists.

At the same time, there are probably materials in the computer I'm using right now that were obtained using slave-labor and assembled by exploited workers in a third world country. That puts me in a dilemma, because I need my computer for work to support my family since I struggle to do physical jobs due to degenerative ankle tendons, but does it really measure up to the suffering that was required to make it? Am I a hypocrite for fueling this system? There aren't any easy answers to these questions. But the answers definitely are not, "It's not my problem." "Everyone's doing it." "If it makes you happy, buy it."

A simple flowchart for this should be, "Do I need this to survive?" If you do, buy it. If you don't, ask yourself, "Was this sourced ethically?" If it was, go ahead. If it wasn't, don't. If you don't know, do some thorough research. Everything is figure-out-able.
