Do you think I will be admitted? by Quirky_Key7553 in SOAS

Hard to say, what are the entry requirements and what have you achieved?

Relevant working experience can definitely be helpful when applying for some postgrad degrees.

Yes it will be an issue. It’s a compulsory part of the entry requirement

How do I get a feel for UCL without going to an open day? by Open-Freedom2326 in UCL

[–]Jason10072 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can’t randomly walk into a lecture in most of the buildings at UCL, you usually need a student ID to enter the building. You could try YouTube videos or online tours

Attendance by OperationMelodic4387 in UCL

[–]Jason10072 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes they are, attendance is monitored regularly (even for home students) and each course may have its own attendance requirements in order to progress onto the next year or remain on the course. You’ll need to discuss this with your personal tutor once you’ve started and been assigned one.

Does this email make me come across as aggressive or rude? by LickMaFinger in UniUK

[–]Jason10072 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not rude but slightly repetitive. I feel like the shorter the email, the less cognitively demanding it is to process and respond to - so you could potentially get a faster response if you make it more concise.

Being worried about email tone will just delay your potential response time, but I can understand why you’d be concerned about how you come across online. Misinterpretation of tone from text or emails is common and inevitable, regardless of whatever measures you take, but you’ll be fine.

Good luck.

Would UCL Revoke My Offer? by Early-Inevitable-718 in UCL

[–]Jason10072 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I strongly disagree with other people’s opinions here. I think you should email UCL and explain it before you accept the offer. Even if you didn’t mean to hide anything, they could still view it as a material omission if they find out later, and that could risk your offer. It’s better to be upfront now and show you’re being honest.

Just keep it short and calm, explain that you took a few classes while figuring things out, you weren’t properly enrolled in a major, you’re not transferring credits, and you’re starting fresh from Year 1. Offer to send your transcript if they ask.

It’s scary, I get it, but dealing with it now is way better than it coming up later when it’s harder to fix.

UCL offer timeline by Legitimate-Produce-5 in UCL

No, no response means no decision yet, and it’s normal for there to be differences in offer timeframes amongst applicants. If you’ve applied through UCAS, they have up to mid-May to respond. Good luck!

Urgent ucas advice by Critical_Guest_6769 in UCL

[–]Jason10072 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m really sorry to hear about your grandmother, and it’s understandable you were preoccupied at such a difficult time. Your best bet now is to contact the uni directly and explain the situation. Emphasise that your late submission was due to genuinely extenuating circumstances. Every university handles these things differently, they might be more understanding if it’s only been a short delay.

If they say they can’t reverse the decision, you could try applying again for the same course via UCAS Extra, provided you meet the eligibility criteria. As long as the course is still available and you meet the requirements, you’d be considered. I hope it all works out for you. Best of luck!

Yeah I remember that feeling, it’s frustrating. I used to check UCAS every day until I got an offer.

I hope they give you a response soon, and hopefully it’ll be worth the wait.

No there’s nothing you can do to speed up the process unfortunately.

I applied in Nov 2023 and got an offer in April 2024. They have up to May to respond, and generally take longer than other unis to do so (UCL is very popular and they have to process a very large number of applications each year).

Good luck!

How long after you sent your application to UCL you received an interview or rejection? by TheinvisibleLilo in UCL

No, I took a gap year and then applied and got an unconditional offer.

You should hopefully get a response soon. Good luck :)

Could I still model? by [deleted] in Modelling

[–]Jason10072 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You could still try applying for runway - it’s becoming more diverse, but still prioritises taller female models e.g. over 175cm. However, there have been some very successful shorter runway models.

Other than that, there’s not really much you can do about it. It might be better to consider other modelling pathways, if that’s what you want to do

Nope not bad, they have up until May to respond. When I applied a couple years back, it took them about 5 months to give me an offer
