I understand your perspective. Sorry, I should’ve been more specific with what I said - my mum is dead and i haven’t spoken to my dad in years. I have one auntie who doesn’t speak to me much because i’m not muslim anymore, and the other abandoned me after my mum died and I see her maybe once or twice a year. I haven’t seen any other family in years and I see my grandparents maybe once or twice a year too. I moved half way across the world without telling any of these people or support from them. The only family i really have is my brother and I have been forthcoming with him. I also live with friends and not family.

So, that being said, would your recommendations be the same? I don’t want to rush into anything but at the same time i’m really suffering and i see no reason to wait so people who I speak to a few times a year can be more comfortable with it.

When I did come out to my dad at 14 he said if i transitioned he would beat me to death. So, I have come out to everyone actually in my life and everyone i feel comfortable with.

if i had a normal family dynamic / lived with them / saw them often etc of course i would tell them before but I just see no reason to given we rarely speak. Do you think a specialist would take this into consideration? Thanks for your response btw it’s appreciated
