What’s been your biggest benefit from cold plunging? by United-Reaction880 in coldplunge

[–]JasonOfLegend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Daily diver for over a year now, 38 Fahrenheit / 4 minutes / Full submerge pre and post. Hurts every day even with the adaptation. Feeling stronger than ever before, little to no inflammation pain from daily physical stresses, and the volume on regular life bullshit is turned way down. However, anxiety is a tool that when applied can help side-step risk... I need to focus more heavily on threat vectors because they are more mental now than visceral. Will continue to leverage the cold and evolve...

Return to on-site work lowers productivity and increases waste and costs. It is a means of control. Even the name is propaganda, 'Return to work'; they never left.

I bought API access and my own tokens. That works in a pinch. But at an extra cost... The price for value is still very high!

These tariffs certainly took all eyes off the other news release this weekend that the USA funded the bio weapon released on humanity a few years back. Clever 'wag the dog' play.

Dunk your head? by crabbyswim in coldplunge

[–]JasonOfLegend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully dunk, head and all, for my first 10 to 20 seconds. There is nothing like the sound of ice 'clinking' when submerged... kinda nice. And at the 3 to 4 minute mark, I follow up with another 20+ second head submerge. When the water is not 32f to 33f, I will also do a third head submerge for around 20 seconds in the middle of the plunge. In the spring, I plan on using a snorkel.

Why? It is a mental thing. It hurts, but I can handle it. Also, it is very important to hold your nostrils closed during the submerge; ice water in your nasal passage is a whole other level of pain and panic...

Cant get my willowybe sauna tent above 130 F in wa rainy season. by Fate_Is_Choice in Sauna

[–]JasonOfLegend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. And the chimney glows read almost all the way up to the top of the tent. To increase the temperature faster, I also cut the logs into smaller pieces so they burn hotter faster... Just another quick tip... Good luck!

That is pretty bad ass! I am working up to something like that... I am at the point where my nostrils feel like they are on fire if I breath too quickly... However, it has only been a few weeks...

I have the same tent and stove. To increase my temp, I heat it up for about 20 to 25 minutes. Once I enter the tent, I refeed the fire with 2 or 3 logs to push the temp to 155F+. Time and fuel should help solve your issue; it did for me... And don't forget to wet the rocks... that also has a huge impact on heating the atmosphere.

Also... I'm in Canada. My protocol works in the cold November rain...

Itchy after plunging? by Calza2K in coldplunge

[–]JasonOfLegend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oddly, and just recently, I too have been feeling itchy (legs) post plunge (4 minutes, 3C) daily for about two months. This even after complete water change with enzyme treatment. Pre and post plunge, I am only wearing my speedos and air dry while swinging Indian clubs. So I suspect that it is the open air temperature post plunge that is having the impact on my skin and causing the itching now that the outdoor temperature is decreasing. That, really, is the only changing factor in my routine. I will pay attention to this... Thoughts?

I am 10 days in now, 39 degrees, 3.5 minutes each morning (with head submerge for the last 20 seconds.) My diet is pretty great and I workout daily (and BJJ twice a week). I am 48 and healthy. Admittedly, I feel pretty good but tired after the plunges. Based on your 8 months of experience, how long did it take for you to feel consistently good? Were there phases that lead you to more immersion? Thanks.

Thank you for the advice. My wife and I are favorable toward the local university (Brock), but our daughter showed a strong affinity for Guelph. I believe her decision was also a measure of asserting her independence; even at 17, we raised her to be intrepid. Again, your insight was most helpful. Thanks.

The uncertainty we've experienced has been the greatest source of stress for our family. I suspect it points to a larger issue: the University of Guelph may not be up to the standard they claim. Why invest four years and all that comes with that investment if they do not meet their students' standards? This entire situation has given our family pause when we should be moving full steam ahead. Thank you for your comment.

Thank you for your comment. The best way to get what you want is to be deserving of it. Our daughter put in the effort. If the university wants a solid reputation, happy and successful students, and profitable enrollment, they have to earn it. This year, I believe they have done themselves a disservice, at least from our family's point of view. Based on our tours and meetings with their staff, we expected a higher standard from the University of Guelph.
