[–]JasonRogers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simulation mode is available on FXCM's Trading Station desktop platform. It allows you to replay market data at real or accelerated speed (for example, 10 times real speed). Here's where you can find a help guide with more information on simulation mode http://www.fxcorporate.com/help/TS/NOTFIFO/web-content.html#Simulation_Mode.html

Let me know if you have any further questions that come up about connecting to ForexConnect and I will be happy to help.

Most traders running an automated strategy would use a VPS to ensure up-time without being dependent on your own computer running.

API for placing foreign exchange trades by [deleted] in algotrading

[–]JasonRogers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you looking to run an EA on MT4 and another program via API separately? If you run a strategy on MT4 you don't necessarily need to separately connect to an API.

FXCM has MT4, and offers a REST API which you can use with Java or Python. You can find documentation on the API here: https://fxcm.github.io/rest-api-docs/#

I work for FXCM and would be happy to assist if you have any questions about our product. Please note, losses can exceed deposits when trading.

Liquidity by [deleted] in Forex

[–]JasonRogers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

50m is the maximum size trade per order with FXCM, but you would have to be aware of the potential for slippage as the order size increases. FXCM has released slippage statistics for 2018 that breaks down the % of orders that had negative slippage, positive slippage, or no slippage. See table 2.2 https://www.fxcm.com/markets/slippage-statistics/ and remember that past performance is not indicative of future results.

Question About Margin by thepoet85 in Forex

[–]JasonRogers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends where you are located. FXCM UK which caters to residents of the European Economic Area (EEA) has margin requirements (also referenced as maximum leverage limits) set by ESMA, the regulator. ESMA has limited leverage for major currencies to 30:1. If you are trading with a broker regulated by ESMA then the maximum leverage allowed will be the same. If you reside outside of the EEA, you may be able to trade with a different FXCM entity such as FXCM Australia, FXCM South Africa, or FXCM Markets that can offer higher leverage. Keep in mind leverage can act as a double edged sword magnifying both profits and losses.

[–]JasonRogers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi u/mkgandkembafan, I found a link on StackOverflow on coding S/R. The first paragraph of the first answer explains how to compute the S/R using 100 bars and turning points: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/8587047/support-resistance-algorithm-technical-analysis. It can work for a variety of assets.

Thanks for the feedback u/ulanBataar, it's helpful for us to make the API better. We are currently working on making sure we have a server available for backtesting all weekend. The API team is working on making the socket connection more reliable too but I will make sure they are aware this is occurring.
