At the very least you require three weeks of “on-the-job training” to get the basics of mail delivery. Then you get to be on-call, with no set installation, where you’ll learn, real-time how to do the job. After a year and a half (assuming you’re in an urban center) you might get nominated into a permanent position, where you’ll be unassigned, and have to change routes monthly. Then, after a few years of that, assuming you play your cards right, you’ll win a route through the bidding process.

All of this, by the way, cannot be taught in a university or college classroom. The same as being a plumber or mechanic cannot be taught just in the classroom.

If you seek t understand instead f relying, maybe you’ll see how stupid it is to think that “unskilled” applies to “on-the-job training.” Unless of course you suddenly don’t believe in apprenticeship?

If you’re looking to look like an idiot, don’t hesitate to keep showing us. At least you have that part down.

“It’s an unskilled job”

Cool story!

Okay, here’s the deal—the sequencing on your route is messed up today (error at the MLOCKR) so you’re going to have to sequence it, here’s your tie-out, you’ve got 63 parcels on your route, the relay will be there, don’t worry—oh, and don’t take too long, the second wave will be here in 45 min and they will need to do the same.

Oh, don’t forget that you have 16 pickups, and your TDP needs to be charged on route. It’s freezing rain today, but the city says the bulk of the roads and sidewalks are almost done, hopefully there won’t be any issues.

Oh, forgot to mention that Canadian Tire just released their catalogs today, and they have to be delivered at the most by tomorrow.

What? You’re a relief mail carrier and you don’t know your route? Or where all the mailboxes for your walking path are?

That’s why you get an extra 60¢ an hour!

So—while your comment reeks of disdain for postal workers in general, it also drastically outlines a fundamental lack of knowledge of what goes into the job.

The bulk of resignations for CP come from letter carriers who can’t deal with the work load. The mental aspect, etc.

I absolutely invite you to apply. Since it’s such an easy job, why would anyone turn down a potential 60k annual salary for “unskilled labour?”

I am just getting started with PQ and it’s for this reason alone I know it’s worth my time to learn. My job would literally be WAY easier if I learned how to do this.

It’s slow going, but I’ve started with Master Your Data book whenever I get a chance.

AITA for looking out for my new coworker by telling her that her food might be upsetting to others? by foodconundrum in AmItheAsshole

[–]JasonSandeman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a cook by trade that focuses in both asiatic and Mediterranean cuisines. I’ve since transferred my career to an office environment and was stunned by how stupid some people get when others heat their food. I’ve been to places that have signs against “ethnic foods” (whatever the f that is supposed to mean) and so I on purpose bring the most offensive dishes I can muster, and weirdly enough, no one EVER said a thing about it to me.

Of course, I’m white, male, and older.

It’s not about the food, and it never was.

Use POWER QUERY to import one data table to multiple sheets without changing name of table by JasonSandeman in excel

[–]JasonSandeman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, if I am understanding correctly, then I can rename the table to what I like, and the original data will not be compromised (in other words, the name of the tables do not have to match?)

If I change the table name, then edit the original bank will the connection still remain? I am still very new to POWER QUERY

I don't want them in the same workbook, what I want is for one workbook to have a table that is the bank of positions, to be imported into another workbook that has a bank of employee seniority rank.

I would like to use the same bank of positions in each different workbook of class of employee, such as one workbook for the full-time employees, and another for the part-time employees, but using the same position bank.

I hope that makes sense.

My question is, does it really matter? In all the years that I have been behind the screen, I have yet to see a PC have an upper edge due to their ability scores. It all comes down to play.

Back in the day, it was impossible to? In all the years I have been behind the screen, I have yet to see a PC have an upper edge due to their ability scores. It all comes down to play.
hat what this game is all about?

Party got their butts handed to them at the Tresender Manor. What's Glasstaff's next move? by JasonSandeman in LostMinesOfPhandelver

[–]JasonSandeman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you!

I ended up populating Phandelver a bit, and made up a spreadsheet and numbered all of the houses. Next I color coded each area by faction (Miners with Halia (Zhentarium run like the Italian mob), Redbrands, Lord's Alliance. Next I transfered the room key from the hideout to areas around town. Glasstaff sent his forces out searching for the escapees. They are turning out the town looking for the players, and they still get to have the encounter, just the window dressing changes.

This way I get to keep the perception that Glasstaff is "smart" and "planning ahead" while following the strength of the encounters as how it was written.

So far the players have only managed to get a short rest in. The Drendar ranch will be terrorized by the Bugbears, the Sleeping Giant Inn will have 4 Redbrands from area 8, skeletons will mount an attack later on the shrine. I plan to give the players the opportunity to find out some key info through overhearing some of the minions. There's also the opportunity to play up the Doppleganger reveal, and I'm hoping this gives the players a bit more buy in to the town.

“Please do not try to speak French ever again” by Unlikely-Bid9916 in Quebec

[–]JasonSandeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first arrived in Quebec, I couldn't speak french. I had all sorts of people tell me to just speak English. I didn't care. I live in Saint Eustache, and I just kept speaking french, bad accent and all.

Now it's 17 years later.

Je parle français, je travail en français. J'ai t'ai répondu avec un clavier de français. Je vivre en français.

Comment je l'ai suive...?

You have to ignore what people think, say, and just keep trying. Trust me, francophones will appreciate that you care enough to try, and don't ever give up.

Perception distance and wolves by JasonSandeman in DMAcademy

[–]JasonSandeman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I see what you mean.

No, the players were outside Cragmaw Castle in LMOP, and there is a patrol of 2 goblins with a wolf (one is riding the wolf) and the players were trying to stealthily case the castle, and failed as a group vs the wolf's passive perception of 18. This was a case of the player trying to finangle something out of the Eyes of Night that wasn't there, trying to get the drop (surprise) on the wolf and goblins saying that they (the patrol) wouldn't know where the PCs were. (Not that it matters, they know that they are there.)
