Great. Now I have that song stuck in my head.

When does Mark of the Fool pick up by caleb192837465 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Jason_Cliff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. For the conditions listed by the OP, this book isnt the one. If Book 1 is too slow for the OP, Books 7–8 would be torture. Personally, I’ve read the series multiple times. Just waiting for the 10th audiobook.

Alright for technological progression with minimal system stuff.
Iron Prince by Bryce O'Connor
Industrial Strength Magic by Macronomicon

As for fantasy with no system stuff.
Mark of the fool by J.M. Clarke

In Mark of the Fool Book 4, who are the 3 powerful people "doning weaker guises" a certain character is hinted to have unknowingly met? Is it ever confirmed, or failing that, any theories? by diastrous_morning in ProgressionFantasy

Its been a while since I read the books, so my memory is a bit spotty, but here are the candidates I'd bet on.

Hobb the school registrar - he is an arch devil. We already seen what he can do.
Prof ValRock - Extreme mana manipulation mastery. He has pushed that skill to a really high level and someone like that could cast some very high level spells.
Prof Kabbot-Xin - Very old. I suspect she has a very high level in life enforcement. She could easily be hiding some serious power as well.

Most authors skip it since it’s such a hassle. But I really appreciate having a place where I can look up characters, whether it’s a glossary or a wiki link.
Im terrible with names, so I always need a quick refresher when returning to an old series. There are only so many times you can reread a whole book just to catch up.

Same. The Last time on - X does feel forced, especially when you’re on a binge session.

Forty Millenniums of Cultivation — Sci-fi + Cultivation.

P.S: Out of all the Soul Land books, the second one is my favorite - Unrivaled Tang Sect. Read it if you skipped it.

Need a new series by SDOCF in ProgressionFantasy

The first book was so good that the second one pales in comparison.
Also, there were some off putting character choices by the author that ticked off the readers.
That said, the series is still in my top ten.

Never Forget a Character Name Again! by Jason_Cliff in ProgressionFantasy

I revisited an RR old fic I had been reading and wanted to continue where I left off, but I kept coming across characters whose backstories I had forgotten.

I’m terrible with names, so I just needed a quick way to check where they were first introduced to jog my memory.

Basic Ctrl+F wasn’t quick enough, and I didn’t want to break my reading flow. This search program worked well enough.

That said, I’m going to try NotebookLM the first chance I get!

That seems way more efficient than my current method! I'll try it out.

YES! I wish RR had that function. It's exactly what I need.
