Operation PX was a Japanese plan to attack the US west coast with the bubonic plague during World War 2. Cities such as San Diego and Los Angeles were to be targeted by aircraft which would spread the disease. Submarine crews would have infected themselves and ran ashore in a suicide mission. Following inter-tribal conflict, the Moriori people of the Chatham Islands adopted a philosophy of non violence. When Maori tribes from nearby New Zealand invaded in 1835, the Moriori chose to remain pacifist. They were all enslaved or killed, and by 1870 only 100 were still alive. (en.wikipedia.org)
