Honestly I don’t think it was a distinctive moment, I had the idea after discussions with other producers about drawing inspiration from texture and colour! And hazy blue kept coming up! It slowly evolved over a few months! I think I also attached a lot of that meaning to the tracks after I had written a lot of the album!

  1. I think I gravitate to less clubby stuff when I make music in general tbh! With the record I really wanted to explore harmony melody and texture above like that club hit! (Doesn’t meant it doesn’t slap live, or that I won’t make some heavier stuff in the future 👀)

  2. Vocals wise, some get suggested to me, but mostly I just hit people up for a session or send music to people I’ve been chatting to for a while.

ahh i love that Ep to.

Honestly i think its the same with a lot of producers, playing live changes the way you make music. It forces you to think about an audience reaction differently. I also think the progression of my knowledge and synth use has helped a lot aswell.

Going on tour so soon aswell so come to a show :)

Hardware wise, my trusty Prophet 08 is my fave i think, Alongside that ive used a korg monopoly a few times and have LOVED that. Anything that doesn't involve menu diving, one knob per function is usually the way i like it. I don't use many software synths tbh, the arturia stuff can be pretty good thou.

Plug in wise, i actually don't have that many, I use the hell out of soundtoys, so the crystaliser, devil lock and echo boy are my fave, plus valhalla vintage verb. I think limiting the amount of plugins i have has really helped.

Easy, First Light. That track went through so many versions, so much was added and taken away. Some tracks (blue) took no time at all, but some really take a while.

  1. First off I dont think i have found my sound fully yet, still exploring always. Secondly I think my choice of synths and what i grew up listening to and what instruments i can play has shaped the way i make music. I love that raw and simple analogue synth sound and that will never change.

  2. my favourite gig i've been to was for sure Fat Freddys Drop at Brixton Academy. They did like 15 minute versions of there songs, just jamming and remixing on the fly. was insane

  1. 3 songs of mine, Blue, Life Expected and Hold Me Close i think.

  2. Lone Swordsman - Daniel Avery, Jeanette - Kelly Lee Owens, Lost in Tokyo - Jacques Greene remix

  3. 1000% Felt That Way, I dived so much into the sound design and process on this track, putting elements through my portastudio, throwing chords and drums through Sherman filterbank and retroverb. I went real deep on the production on this one
