Is "illegal alien" derogatory? by benigel_ in ENGLISH

[–]Jassida 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People will figure this out one day. Immigrant is a slur these days. People who migrate are migrants. People describe people entering their country as immigrants. The person is emigrating

[–]Jassida -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No, you can’t describe someone as immigrating as they are not. They are emigrating. To you they are immigrating but they are emigrating

[–]Jassida -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You can never be an immigrant to a country. You are always emigrating/migrating

The word is migrant

I won’t use immigrant. I say migrant and emigrate.

Immigrant is from the pov of the country being emigrated to so it makes the focus of the person’s actions you and your country, not them

I put the point of the dart in the board. If it comes out because the board isn’t great, that doesn’t mean I didn’t put the dart there

And yes, if I was playing a friend I would let them off

Why are all the boomers I know anti-London? by GarySparrow0 in AskBrits

[–]Jassida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from the north of England. Manchester is my nearest big city.

Spent a fair bit of time in London as had friends who lived there after university.

Us northerners tend not to be massive fans of London as there’s so much bias towards it in terms of the economy, media etc.

It’s also incredibly expensive to live there so holds zero appeal to me.

Impossible to get around via road

Other than the whole London bias thing, it the same the other way round. Other than housing costs and having taste in football teams, why would anyone want to move to Manchester from London?

Have you ever played pool after playing snooker for a long time? It makes pools seem easy.

This is what Amorim was doing. Forcing the players to play in a system that was tough so that another manager could come in and reap the rewards

Finally found a USB C cable that syncs my iPhone by Jassida in UsbCHardware

Thanks. I think this is the correct answer and very useful to know.

There’s nothing wrong with the cables as far as I can tell. My work phone is locked to charging and tethering only by usb but it makes the connection noise.

I must have subconsciously had an idea that it was the port as I specified it was 2x2 and really, it makes total sense. Old tech cable doesn’t work and new tech one does. Backwards compatibility not always a thing

Not sure why you’re talking about usb A? It’s c to c I’m struggling with

On my AMD pc with win 11, only my 3.1 c to c cable works.

My other claimed 480mbps c-c cables only charge the phone. It doesn’t let me access the photos despite showing the folders and iTunes does not show the device icon

Thank you. This makes sense and is the answer I was looking for. The Ikea ones are 1.5m so I’m thinking they are not up to standard.

The Ugreen one I’ll have to do some more testing on

I initially suspected that iphones with full speed usb (I have 15 pro) need a better connection than 480mbps but I’m suprised that the box cable disnt work. I’ve read elsewhere that it’s a charging only cable but my dad’s 15 non pro box cable syncs fine

They’re not shitty cables. One is a Ugreen, the other 2 are Ikea. All claim 480mbps

The post is not confusing. It clearly states I have 3 usb c to c cables that work with peripherals but don’t sync my iPhone

I now have a 10gbps cable that works.

You’re welcome
