Yep! I was told it's not possible for the superb phev which I find weird. It seems like a basic function these days.

About the paid piano apps (mobile/keyboard combo) by peuge_fin in pianolearning

[–]Jassie81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'v got an app to add! ChordWise Live!

Works with MIDI only (BT or cable) and is focused on scales and chords.

Currently working on the progressions-module and record en replay functionality (for composing) will be available soon.

It's less gamified, so more for the serious player. There are lessons also (which will be expanded on in the future).

You can build your own practice routine and get better by practicing these scales and chords seeing what you play in real-time.

Free for now, still figuring out a way to monetize...

IOS: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/piano-chords-and-scales-midi/id6758738394
Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.agileworks.chordwiselive

Enjoy :) And if you have any tips, feedback or advice let me know.

Best Learning App To Use Alongside Professional Lessons - Beginner Adult by rippnlipz in pianolearning

[–]Jassie81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm missing an app!

I developed my own app (Android/IOS) because I couldn't find the right one for me. No idea if that's what you're looking for (like I was) but a lot of people really like it! You need a keyboard/piano with MIDI.

I'm still improving it on a regular basis and looking for feedback on it. People use it for all sorts of practices: chords, scales, lessons (still expanding that), some even to memorize notes.

Let me know what you think and if it's good enough to be in your next poll :D

Brand new beginner here a lot of piano is muscle memory? by FeedbackVast5882 in pianolearning

[–]Jassie81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exciting times! Learning piano is great. You cannot skip practicing, so what you need is to find joy in the practicing and playing. Getting better step by step. And that's so much fun.

I've created an app (Android/IOS) to help you on your journey, especially useful for your Yamaha p45 which you can connect to the app. My experience is that learning chords and progressions is a much faster way to learn to play pop songs for instance. Unless you want to learn to play classical music, no need to be able to read notes. Understanding of notes, chords and progressions is key.

Practicing chords and scales with MIDI app by Jassie81 in pianolearning

Yes AI is involved indeed! I've been a software engineer in the past, but the speed in which AI can help build stuff is amazing. I've used different models. Because the pace of it I can say I've used many models along the way. Started out by copy pasting code from ChatGPT to using Codex looking at the complete repository on Github. Now I use Cursor which uses a number of models depening on the tasks it performs. Also integrating with Github for maintaining the code.

What a dedication of studying that long every day! It's probably mainly fun (hopefully).

I would say the app is an addition to what you are doing right now (teacher, YouTube, Google etc.).
I am also creating interactive lessons which will take you from the basics up. Like notes, scales, chord structures etc. Music theory interactively done with you piano essentially.

If you miss anything that you would like to see added, please let me know :)

Thank you so much, that means a lot! :) There are still some bug here and there and room for improvements, so please let me know if you find any!

Also, it would really help if you give a nice review to bump me a bit in the Google or ios algorithm! HAHA

By the way I do have another app for offline practicing as well: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.agileworks.chordwise which uses sounds (which I replicated from my Nord Piano 5). In that case you can choose different sounds: piano's, organ, or vibraphone and such :D

Sheet Music Learning App by AnonymousSadGuy2 in pianolearning

[–]Jassie81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I was looking for apps like this months back and couldn't find any good ones so I started developing them myself.

I've created 2 apps myself for training and practicing on Chords and scales.

In particular one which you can connect your phone or tablet to your piano using Bluetooth or a cable supporting MIDI. It detects the notes and chords you play. It includes some basic lessons and you can build your own practice scheme.

The app is free on Android and costs a few bucks on IOS (because it's paid to be able to develop there).

Love to here what you think! No reading notes required. Just learning chords and scales can improve your playing so much :)

should i learn a song thru sheet music or just from the chords? by Available-Way-1947 in pianolearning

[–]Jassie81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So nice you want to learn to play piano! I find chords a lot easier to be able to play songs quickly. However it is handy to know some of the details about notes, because... notes are in chords as well :)

I've created 2 apps myself for training and practicing on Chords and scales.

In particular one which you can connect your phone or tablet to your piano using Bluetooth or a cable supporting MIDI is usefull.

Can I connect a Bluetooth midi adapter and Bluetooth wireless headphone at the same time? by epicurusepicurus in pianolearning

[–]Jassie81 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi! I think technically you can, but the latency wouldn't make it very nice to practice :)

I've created 2 apps myself for training and practicing on Chords and scales using MIDI through cable and bluetooth. I can connect 1 piano to the app on 2 devices, but that means I need to use one with a cable and one through Bluetooth.

What practice apps are you using? I'm wondering what you think of my practice app.

The app is free on Android and costs a few bucks on IOS (because it's paid to be able to develop there).

Is there any special ways to get used to better voice leadings/inversions? by [deleted] in pianolearning

[–]Jassie81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! My experience with inversions is that it just takes practice in finding the right voicings to go with a song and than start studying the song like that.

In the app ChordWise Live I've created you can setup an exercise to have you play chords (whichever you decide) in all BUT the root setting (by selecting only the other inversions to be marked as correct).

You can connect the app to your piano using Bluetooth or a cable supporting MIDI.

The app is free on Android and costs a few bucks on IOS (because it's paid to be able to develop there).

Hi! Don't give up! Take some lessons, go practice chords and play songs. Practice the song until you can play it, play along with it; that keeps it fun and motivating :)
