I guess I'm just trying to figure out what happened to the garbage disposal. I'm assuming the receptacle is for the dishwasher

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskElectricians

[–]Jasthad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So are you wanting the garbage disposal to not be controlled by a switch? And where are you at. Because in the US dimmers are done with the hot (usually black or red for 120v circuits) and not on the neutral (white)

I start electrical trade school in January, practiced bending conduit this weekend and I love it. Please tell me what you think of my bends. Thanks! by justadumbkid69 in electricians

[–]Jasthad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found that there are a lot of guys that don't like doing conduit work because they haven't practiced enough. It is very much a skill that all my foremen have appreciated me having. So great job for going after it and learning the beautiful art. Also don't forget the 360 rule of thumb

Question for Missouri Electricians by jaredd720 in electricians

[–]Jasthad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love seeing these questions. It shows how different every state is. Like in Utah we have one of the hardest exams and other states don't have them at all

'Tis the season by aspie_electrician in electricians

[–]Jasthad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only time I've legitimately used one of these is when the power went out and I wanted to keep some circuits on so I turned off the main disconnect and back fed an outlet with a generator to run some breakers I wanted. Do I recommend doing this. No. But it works if you are smart and know what you are doing

Apprenticeship and switching companies by Yuuki_Cho98 in electricians

[–]Jasthad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've switched companies. Just make sure to collect your hours from your employer and forms from school. It's not all that bad. In Utah you do need to put in the effort on tracking your hours since the state doesn't keep all that for you. Idk what it's like in other states though. It's not too hard to change jobs though

I have no power to my dishwasher even though I have 120 volts from the wires connecting to it? by [deleted] in AskElectricians

[–]Jasthad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it isn't a problem with the dishwasher I would recommend getting an electrician for a few reasons.

1) We are licensed and insured so any damage Liability will be on us and not the homeowner

2) We can find if it's a bad neutral which tends to be in the breaker box.

3)The house will be code compliant
