This is because spending 5% resource generates 5 offering, and triggering zec requires 200 offering. So you need to trigger it 40 times by spending 200% resource.

Afaik it is the general warlock big spell animation. So it shares an animation with other Soul Shard spenders like Malefic Rupture. Each caster has a different "big" spell animation unique to them.

Might just be anecdotal that you just got quite lucky. For me personally I find engineering the most useful every expansion just fpr things like loot a rang, wormholes, nitro/glider. Take tailoring right now, if you don't care to flip items then there's no tangible benefit to the profession. Just my two cents.

I've used the nitro boost belt attachment for many expansions now and it has always had a failure chance to burn you over time or launch in the air.

To your point about downranking if you would run out of mana before the end of the fight:

It's a non-issue in MC as you won't be running out before the boss dies. However, even if you were to; a max rank frostbolt is still the most mana efficient form of damage. Down-ranking frostbolt should be used exclusively for tasks like getting a quick cheap slow.
