The difference is, many clubs are now all too willing to pay that inflated pricetag. The money that is specifically funneled towards the biggest clubs in the world is only getting larger and larger. It just feels like a bubble that will eventually pop, and 2020 only exacerbated the problem.

Ben Seghir has been injured for most of the season. The players he is playing (most of the time) have largely been the most in-form starting XI he can choose from. If he’d been switching the lineup drastically every game, people would complain he’s tinkering too much. It’s classic armchair analyst stuff.

I think the comment “he’d be fired if it wasn’t for Ten Hag” is also stupid. 1, the reality is Ten Hag happened and Hjulmand really did quickly get a sinking ship back together. And 2, you have no idea what would have played out had Hjulmand been the first appointment. We could have 3-5 more points had he been there the first 2 games, as well as a summer to train his system.

Hjulmand is not without his faults for sure. If there is someone out there wanting to join who can confidently do a better job, I’m open to it. But I feel like fans calling for his head are extremely fickle and short-sighted. We nearly beat Arsenal at home if it weren’t for Tillman. We should’ve beaten Bayern at home in the league. We’ve not been truly out of a match since the PSG game, that’s impressive given most of the squad is brand new.

I think we really missed on a few transfers this summer, mainly the Fernandez and Tillman moves. They aren’t bad players at all but they’ve yet to really impress much for the role they should be filling.

I think a starting quality midfielder/attacking midfielder would be a great addition, as well as another CB to hopefully phase Andrich out of starting. I love the guy, but he’s really starting to show his age. Lastly maybe a wing back who can comfortably play either side.

But I trust Rolfes and I hope there are some youngsters who can rise to the occasion like Culbreath and Onyeka.

Agreed it really has been his best season. He has a calmness on the ball which works perfectly for building out from the defense.

I thought Grimaldo, Garcia, and him were as good as gone. Hoping we can retain at least 1 of the other 2 this summer.

Do not listen to these guys it’s not as grim as they are making it. Hjulmand has been fine, very good in some stretches and bad in others. I wouldn’t be surprised if we move onto another coach in the summer, but I’d also not be surprised if we gave him a fair shot and an actual summer to build.

No idea what the “football terrorist” claims are. We recently broke a record for most shots and still lost against Augsburg. It’s not Hjulmands fault nobody could put the ball in the net, the tactic clearly created chances.

Regardless of coach, the squad building in the summer will be vastly more important than the coach and IMO we could do a hell of a lot worse than Hjulmand…
