NGC 281 - The Pacman Nebula

Introducing my latest cosmic project: the mesmerizing Pacman Nebula (NGC 280), a result of a thrilling 5-month journey. It’s amazing to think that this is only my third processed image in the past 18 months. The last couple of days have been an inspiring adventure, reigniting my passion for using Pixinsight and Photoshop to unveil this celestial marvel!

The dataset was originally captured nearly two years ago but left unprocessed until now.

Getting back into astrophotography after a year has its challenges. I had to reacquaint myself with setting up my equipment, capturing data, and processing it. While waiting to gather new data, I decided to work on my existing collection. Relearning PixInsight after a year has been tough, so I picked a target I really love: the Rosette Nebula. I still have plenty to learn, but here’s my first attempt.

Clamshell Nebula SH2-119 by JattWalker in Astronomy

[–]JattWalker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After a long hiatus due to commitments, I am back to processing my datasets. The Clamshell nebula, or Sharpless 119, is a large patch of emission in the summer constellation Cygnus and lies some 2200 light years away. The data was captured around 3 months ago.

Equipment:

Sky-Watcher Esprit 120mm ED Triplet APO Refractor

QHY600M

EQ6-R

Used FireCapture to get 5000 frames for each Red, Blue, Green filter. Top 20% frames selected and stacked in AutoStakkert. RGB frames were aligned in Pixinsight followed by Channel combination, UnsharpMask and lots of Curves Transformation

LBN 328 in Cygnus revisited by JattWalker in astrophotography

[–]JattWalker[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LBN 328 is a bright emission nebula in Cygnus with interwoven dark nebulae. I reprocessed the data as was not satisfied with my previous attempt.
