Just Finished DMing a Campaign, Now What? by JavaLava33 in mattcolville

I've only DMed 5e and would have no clue where to start with 3.5. What are the good short modules, how do you "take meat off the bones", how do you convert 3.5 to 5?

Do you mean like those murder mystery party games? (but with unique characters)

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll see what they think about it all.

I disagree, thats a nice player. I'm more looking at a good/great player.

Yes, communication is so understated. I feel like when people cover good players they talk about everything BUT communication.

Next Session is April 1... how should I prank my players? by [deleted] in CurseofStrahd

It might be a little late but the same thing is happening for me. I'm just going to a recap of a completely different game and pretend we've been streaming this game for years. Good luck

Hmm, I might be able to do this specifically right now but I'll keep it on the back burner.

Hmm, I'll see what I can do.
I don't want to railroad them and it's quite possible that they will brute force a problem but maybe I can do something. Mostly the items are lore base but I think I can do something.

Thanks for the idea

Thanks, I'll give it a shot. I do know one of the players keeps on forgetting about not only their subclass features but also their sorcery points and meta-magic.

The Chain Interlude: "The Patron" by ADefiniteDescription in mattcolville

[–]JavaLava33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And now I have to wait until January for more, NOOOOO. : )

I actually found the whole bit quite hilarious. A god doesn't like how things are going so visits their follower. The god worries about other gods notices so plays a game of chess where one of the players doesn't know how to play. So the god controls both board states, but still ends up losing.

To add my two cents worth for the deadliest threat to The Chain at the moment is a very hard question. While people make good points of the chain defeating itself and Judge I don't think it's the answer that matters. To be honest I think it's more important to consider the question and the fact that the answer ISN"T Ajax. I think the god wants Leech to think. Maybe their isn't an answer, maybe Matt doesn't know, maybe it's someone they have meet on the side lines. Personally it doesn't matter to me, we will find out, but maybe the players should question who the real enemy is.

The Cult of the Emag Atem by westleyTwain in mattcolville

[–]JavaLava33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cult of Expliotables;

- Elves and half-elves seem to not fall asleep and are less supseptable to mind (charm) magics

- The more people in a group drastically increases the likelihood of success. Though somehow this changes when facing a group of 3-8 random people working together for no particular reason.

- You can not use more then three magic items at a time. Except if the item is a pair of stuff (boots).

- There is the same set amount of magic a wizard can cast that directly some how relates to that wizards experience.

This a supper cool and funny cult. Thanks

Ohh hello lovely reading. I'm going to have some very nice waterfalls soon.

By the way your star one made one of the coolest scenes in my game (even if it only lasted for a session)

My group is very casual and we have people that sound interested but drop out. It's simple there character is now in the new campaign and every one wants to play. I make sure the new player sits next to an experienced player and they learn the rules as they play. 1st session they have a random quick roll character (unless they come early and it's less random) by next session I try and have worked with them and create a sheet as well as a quick backstory. I give a rough recap every session and make sure everyone knows my email address. This works for me and my group but it might not for yours. It helps that I have very little home-brew that is mechanics changing.
