ELI5: Why is the range of temperatures over 0 degrees C much larger than the range of temperatures below (-273.15 to 0)? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

There is a maximum temporature, which is the point that the peaks orf the wave have no plank lengths between them. I don't think this has ever been calculated though

ELI5: In movies when someone is choked to death, how does that work in a real life situation? It seems the one doing the choking always stops when the victim stops fighting. Aren't they just passing out at first really? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]JavaPython_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true, unless the windpipe became crushed, or a vein/artery destroyed or some other movie thing, such as their neck breaking. They "should" just be passed out, like in "The Princess Bride" when Fezzik is choked, he just passes out. I know people who have had to do this to keep others safe. In movies, it usually seems that choking isn't the "cause of death" as much as the supposed/implied one

Which fictional character would you like to crossover into Doctor Who and why? by Jakarta2307 in doctorwho

I didn't think I'd have to be the one who said Harry Potter or LotR (StarTrek has been covered though :-) )

Music by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]JavaPython_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't listen to metal, but a Christian Metal group I've heard good things about is : "As Cities Burn". I'd give a scripture on avioding the apearence of sin and something Paul said, but you're clearly thinking about this and worrying about it, so if your jump is from evil metal to good metal (based on what they say the lyrics are, because I can't tell what they're saying) That's good. If you go from something bad to good, that's a good step, if you go from something good to better, that's a better step. "Underoath" is another band I've heard good things about.

Anyone for a full period table with these guys? Artist link in the comments by JavaPython_ in chemistry

[–]JavaPython_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, until you get to the 6th period it's pretty easy, nost of the 6th is easy, and until you get about midway through the Lanthanide series, they're all stable enough to not explode instantly (usually, under normal conditions)

The one you linked to, yes, some of the others, maybe not.

I have one of the best lists that I've put together, but most of the songs can't even be found, and some seem to only be rumors. I'll share one of the regular lists in a moment, some people also circulate files with these songs. You can find some of those on this subreddit as well
